Welcome Mekko to lessons! He’s four years old and was a back yard dog for the most part. He’s not real well socialized but since he’s flying through commands like he knows it all, we’re headed out in public to see how he does on his next lesson. He’s a very active pup that LOVES to snuggle. Once we get him dialed in he’s going to be a super pup!

Vada is three months old and is going to be a big girl! Her family is thrilled at the progress she has been making. She's still all puppy, and a very confident, assertive girl. She's doing her best to take over. Thankfully, her owners have been made aware and are learning what's needed to give her the leadership she needs. I adore this pup, and I'm having so much fun!

Look who finished his lessons!! Whiskey has made such huge progress in just four lessons! From a bouncing, barking goofball to a sweet pup - that’s a ton of progress! Is he flawless? No, he’s a PUPPY!!! He’s still interested in people - but not jumping on them or barking at them.

Folks, there’s nothing wrong with a curious puppy. And they’re allowed to be puppies! What we’re doing is providing boundaries and a solid base of communication and structure so he and his owner can grow together. Whiskey’s owner now knows how to work with him to get best results. And from lesson one to lesson four he went from going nowhere to regular walks and having the manners he needs to go out in public around distractions without losing his basic manners.

And just look at that face!!!!!! He’s the cutest cavapoo in town! 🥰😍🥰😍

Welcome Vada to lessons!!! She’s such a pretty dark sable. She’s not full Czech lines, but has plenty of drive and her owners are getting her straight into training. This is her first lesson. Her owners are already aware of how to train basic obedience, but they’re also aware that she needs more than that. It’s going to be fun to work with her and her dad as she grows!

Isn’t this guy so adorable?? Whiskey is doing a great job learning to ignore dogs while out on his walks. He’s still a spazz! But he’s a puppy, so welcome to puppyhood! He’s learned a lot and is doing a great job learning to curb his impulsive jumping.

Roxy’s owners want to take her out more, so this lesson was about teaching her how to behave and showing them how to enforce it. Roxy is easily corrected with just a touch. When she first arrived she was on her back legs jumping and whining and barking. Most of that was handled in the first five minutes. I took Daisy as a distraction but it turned out there were other dogs to distract, too, so it all worked well. I took Roxy for a few minutes to show her what was expected. Once she and her owners knew what to expect, the rest of the time was guiding them on how to keep her on the straight and narrow. For a third lesson this pup is CONQUERING everything thrown at her! Her owners have really been putting in the time!

Remember, because I do private lessons, the goals are whatever we decide they are. Obviously it needs to be something the dog and owners can handle, and we set expectations. Then I set the lessons to get us there. 👌👌

Meet Goose and Cooper! I was over in Arkansas and enjoyed hanging out with these two and their mom for a while. Goose is four years old and very in tune with his mom. She wants to see about him becoming a service dog for her. So we discussed what tasks were needed and let her know he’d need to know his best behavior in public and ask of that. I don’t know if I’ll get to work with him, but it sure would be fun! Cooper is twelve years old and still plays like a puppy. Maybe a bit hard of hearing, but that’s normal as our dogs age. Both dogs are very good boys and had fun following Daisy around as she explored the yard.

In Roxy’s first lesson we tackled come, sit, down, crawl, and the basics of not jumping and barking or charging out the front door. This is her second lesson, and it’s about walking politely on the leash. She was already doing a fairly good job, so this was about fine tuning her position and handling distractions.
