It is with both heartfelt gratitude and sadness that we share that Janice, our longtime receptionist and beloved staple at the front desk, will be retiring as of May 29, 2026.

For nearly 23 years, Janice has been so much more than the person who answered the phones or greeted you when you walked through our doors. She has been a comforting presence, a friendly face, a listening ear, and a true part of the Community Animal Hospital family. Many of you have shared stories, laughs, and life moments with her over the years, and the bonds she has built with our clients, patients, and staff are truly special.

As our resident cat lady, Janice has brought warmth, compassion, humor, and dedication to the hospital every single day. Her love for animals and for the people around her has touched countless lives, and her absence at the front desk will be deeply felt by all of us.

While we will miss her dearly, we are so happy for her as she begins this well-earned next chapter. We know her cat Dusty will be especially excited to have her home full time.

Please join us in wishing Janice a retirement filled with happiness, relaxation, good health, and plenty of time spent doing the things she loves most. We are beyond grateful for her nearly 23 years of friendship, loyalty, and care, and Community Animal Hospital will never quite be the same without her.

Do you know why we recommend repeating a heartworm test 6 months after a new canine companion has been adopted from a southern state?

This is Raya, one of our employee pets! This pup has been new to the New England area as of December, initially originating from Tennessee. Although started on heartworm prevention prior to adoption and initially having a negative 4Dx test, she has since tested positive for heartworm disease. Over the next few months, we will share progress on her treatment process!

It takes roughly 6 months for larvae to mature into adult heartworms which then release new microfilaria into the bloodstream. That's why Raya is just testing positive now.

Through years of tireless work, long days, and unwavering dedication, that dream has grown into what Community Animal Hospital is today—a place filled with heart, purpose, and an incredible team committed to making a difference in the lives of every pet and family who walks through our doors.

Dr. Morana’s passion has always been at the center of it all. She built this hospital from the ground up, pouring not only her knowledge and skill into it, but her whole heart. That same passion lives on in every member of our team, who continue her mission each and every day—caring deeply, working tirelessly, and always putting patients first.

Over the past 26 years, we’ve been honored to share in so many moments with you—welcoming new puppies and kittens, supporting families through difficult times, and celebrating the long, happy lives of cherished companions. These are more than appointments to us—they are relationships, memories, and bonds we will always treasure.
