Hey there my fetching friends!! Edgar here! I am still at the shelter and waiting for my forever home to come along!! The wait isn't bad though as the shelter staff takes great care of me and gives me lots of lovings like I am their own pet! I would really like to have a home of my own though... I get along with other dogs and even cats!! I even tolerate children so that is a plus! I am an 11 year old hound mix (I also think I could have a little husky in me too). I am neutered, up to date on all of my vaccines to keep me healthy, microchipped (just incase I get a little lost and someone finds me I will have a little non tracking device included, just scan me and you will find my family that way), I have been 4dx tested (for heartworms and lyme disease) both negative!!! Don't let my age deter you from looking past me. I may have some old joints, but I get around really well.. (Joint supplements would be ideal for me, I would just think it's another delicious snack!!) I am located at the shelter (2450 saltwell road, shinnston, wv 26431) I am available to come meet during business hours (7 days a week from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. One of our staff had a scare last night with his own pet, and found out the NCWV ER Veterinarian Clinic is closed for maintenance. So we thought we would share their memo so you have other options for the time being.

Please contact Harrison County WV Animal Control . Parvo should be eradicated - if ONLY people would vaccinate their dogs.
Remember puppies & kittens require more than just ONE vacccine that first few months of their life. They require a series of 3 or 4, and then just one a year after that.
If you notice you dog or puppy is sick - take them to the vet immediately to save their life.
These animals didn't ask to be born, nor get sick.

This is Astro, formerly known as as Panda 🐼. We adopted him in January 2023 as a puppy. He’s the best doggie! Everyone we encountered during the adoption process at the Humane Society of Harrison County - WV were wonderful. Very compassionate and knowledgeable. ❤️
