💤🌙 It’s bedtime for Ashlynn and Charleigh here at KRMC!

I tried coming up to their room for fun playtime pictures, but was met with a bedtime scene ready for the lights to be turned off 😴

Ashlynn and Charleigh are an adorable mom and daughter duo 💞

Ashlynn is an incredibly sweet and affectionate mama cat who might even have more energy than her kitten! She has a unique and charming habit of carefully and sneakily tiptoeing onto your shoulder, ready for little rides around the house.

Charleigh, her delightful daughter, is just as sweet and playful. Together, they form an adorable pair, showcasing a beautiful bond that is truly a joy to behold.

Together, they love to play with wand toys and get lots of pets!

💔 This month, many of our neighbors who rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits are facing an unprecedented challenge just before the holidays. With economic pressure mounting, the reduction or suspension of these critical benefits and others puts enormous strain on household budgets.

❤️‍🩹 The Overlooked Impact on Our Furry Friends
While SNAP benefits can't be used for pet food, the overall economic ripple effect, sometimes called the "trickle-down effect," is acutely felt by pet-owning families. When resources for people are tight, it leaves far less money for essential pet supplies.

😿 Sadly, this financial stress often leads to a heartbreaking choice: people feel they must surrender their beloved cats and kittens because they can no longer afford to feed them.

🥺 While the calls about finding kittens outside are slowing down, the calls about surrendering beloved pets are picking up.. Just in the last two days at Kitten Rescue we have had an increase of calls from people desperately needing help with food and litter for their cherished companions.

🫶 We have our dedicated "Feral Cat Pantry" which primarily helps those who feed the community's feral cats with the lowest costing kitty food we can find.. But this month, let's expand our mission! We want to reach out and help the pets of our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet with more known brands people use in their homes regularly.

❤️ We are rallying our amazing community to help stock our pantry so we can assist both feral feeders and low-income pet owners during these tough months.

👉You can help by:

* Donating an unopened Bag of Cat or Kitten Food!
(Dry or wet is appreciated!)

* Donating unopened Cat Litter! (Any type is helpful!)

💝 Every single donation will find a home with a cat or kitten in need. By providing these basics, we can help keep families together and prevent the heartbreak of pet surrender.

These four have been given their round of medical care, and these healthy babies are ready to go to a warm home 🥰

Slade (adopted!) and medium hair Sokka (still available)are the topic of conversation today, as these gorgeous sleek cats are in a race against time getting a home for the holidays 🎁🎄

🖤🐈‍⬛As we know, black cats are some of the last to be adopted from shelters. So let’s prove to this litter that we won’t let the statistics get to us

😸How quick can we get these guys adopted into their forever homes!! This winter has already been harsh, but imagine how much worse it can get.

🛌Spending the cold days in a warm bed is lovely, but spending them cuddling with someone you love warms your heart and soul. Help us give that opportunity to an adorable feline this winter ! 😻

😸 Why We Do This Work (And Why We Need You To Join Us)

💬People often ask us, "How do you handle seeing so much suffering?" It's a fair question, and the honest answer is: some days, we don't handle it very well.

💕Rescue work is emotionally complex. You celebrate when a scared cat finally purrs for the first time, then cry when another arrives in terrible condition. You feel overwhelming joy watching an adoption reunion, then anxiety about the ten cats still waiting for homes. It's a constant balance between hope and heartbreak.

🔎What sustains us isn't naivety about the scope of the problem—it's the absolute certainty that our work matters. Every single intervention changes a life trajectory. Every spay prevents future suffering. Every adoption creates a love story.

🧠The psychological reward of this work is unlike anything else. When you've hand-fed a sick kitten back to health, or watched a feral cat learn to trust humans, or received a photo from an adopter showing their formerly homeless cat sleeping peacefully in a sunbeam—those moments sustain you through the difficult days.

🫂But we need more people to experience these moments with us. The emotional load becomes lighter when it's shared among many hands and hearts. The joy multiplies when there are more people to celebrate the victories.

🗣️If you've ever wondered whether you're emotionally suited for rescue work, here's the truth: if you care enough to wonder, you probably are. We'll support you through the learning curve, celebrate the victories with you, and help carry the difficult moments.

Miss Ashlynn and her daughter Charleigh were visited by Santa as well, and we have confirmed that EVERYONE in KRMC is on the nice list 🎅📋

Miss Ashlynn is the lighter cat, and her daughter is the adorable black and white tuxedo accompanying her 🐈

Both are playful and friendly as can be, Santa says 🎄🎅

Each of these kitty’s could be anyone’s favorite gift under the Christmas tree this year 🎁💝

Meet the kitty Monday 🙀

Say hello to Marcus, Quinn, and Licorice! 🐈‍⬛

While Marcus is the star of the show here with his LOUD personality, we also love Quinn and Licorice 🥰

Black cats have the highest euthanasia rate (74%) and the LOWEST adoption rates (10%) according to National Library of Medicine.

🖤We LOVE black cats here at KRMC, and would say their personalities are even more endearing and unique with each black cat we meet

🐾From each end of the spectrum, I personally have met black cats that just want to lay around, the MOST rambunctious cats ever, the most talkative, and the most loving

So please, with every black cat you meet, know the biggest and most special personality is most likely right under your nose! 🐈‍⬛

But, Marcus, will always be Marcus.
