πΎ Awesome Dog of the Week: Sunny Baloney πΎ
This little legend is out here practicing his search-and-rescue skills β diving in to pull rocks off the river bottom and haul them safe to shore. Staying cool AND saving lives (wellβ¦ rocks). π
And honestly? Sunny's got the right idea this week. We're looking at a heat spike here in Shelton β mid-80s Saturday and low 90s Sunday and Monday β so let's talk about keeping your awesome dog safe when it climbs.
Dogs don't cool down like we do. They barely sweat β they dump heat by panting, and once it's really hot that just can't keep up. A dog can go from fine to in trouble fast.
Things that help:
π Water, water, water β fresh and cool, always within reach
π Move walks and play to early morning or after the sun drops
π Shade & airflow β never a parked car, not even for a minute
π Watch for the warning signs: heavy panting, drooling, wobbly legs, glazed-out or won't-settle. If you see them, cool your dog down right away with cool (not ice-cold) water and call your vet
Special Note: Big, flat-faced, older, or heavy-coated dogs feel it even worse β give them extra grace when it's hot.
A river romp like Sunny's is one of the best ways to beat the heat together β just keep an eye on your pup and quit while they're still having fun.
Your dog has an awesome dog inside β let's keep cool and unlock that awesomeness. π
