Hi, I’m Meredith. You may already know me or my story from coming in to wash your dog but in case you don’t let me tell you how it started. I was born and raised in Shawnee. My family has always had animals and when U-Wash Puppy opened in 1993 it was so exciting! What a great concept! Well fast forward to 2014 and I was bathing my own personal dogs as well as foster dogs there. Pat, the owner at the time, asked me if I’d ever thought about running a place like that. I didn’t give it much thought at the time because I hadn’t but also because my dad had cancer and I was wrapped up in treatments and trying to soak up as much time with him as I could as well as working full time and a family of my own. Unfortunately in February of 2015 my dad lost his battle with cancer. After already losing my mother in 2009 and my sister is 2010, the loss of my dad was especially hard. I needed a change. The wheels started in motion and by June 1st I was the proud new owner of
U-Wash Puppy!
Eleven years later and I am still so proud of this Shawnee staple! I have met some of the most incredible people and of course dogs! We made it through the pandemic and being shut down completely! It’s not always sunshine and playing with puppies but I wouldn’t change any of it!
Thank you to this incredible community for supporting my little mom & pop shop! Come celebrate 33 years (11 for me) with me this Saturday from 1-4! Rain or shine! We will be walking in the Shawnee parade that morning. I hope to see you all there! $11 self washes all day! Vendors, a food truck, adoptable dogs and more!
