A few photos of our Puppy Foundations 2 crew out at Hubbard Valley Park! We’re proud of their commitment to supporting their dogs through this important stage of life. 💙

Puppy Foundations 1 focuses on socialization and helping puppies learn to navigate the world in a fun, safe way.

Puppy Foundations 2 builds on that foundation, strengthening communication skills and practising around new environments and distractions so you and your dog are better prepared to tackle life’s challenges as a team.

Together, the two courses offer 10 full weeks of training to help you build an enjoyable life together!

For this week’s classes, we chose a course from our agility trial this past weekend. Its flowing layout offers some useful opportunities for focused training.

Three challenges stood out for many competing teams: moving from extension to extension, keeping bars up, and giving dogs timely turning information.

Break the course into short, four-obstacle sequences that suit your team’s current skills. Use them to identify what’s going well and which details need more training. Remember to record your practice and review the video!

We recommend spending 2–3 weeks on focused training for every week spent running full courses.

Wrapped up a full day of teaching at One Smart Dog today ahead of the UKI trial this weekend that I'm judging. What a FUN day!! We had 4 amazing workshops with really fun teams!! We started with a workshop on Agility Games (Snooker/Gamblers strategy), then Fitness for Agility, Young Dog Sequencing and Masters Coursework. Loved all the topics and all the teams went home with some homework, which is a goal to make things just hard enough but not too hard :)

Here is the Masters Course we worked today and loved all the discussions we had about the handling options on several parts of the course!

We get to learn from Dr. Linda Randall every day. Professionals around the world are discovering why we’re so glad we do. 💙
