Meet your instructor, Sharon Muller! With over 30 years of dog training experience, Sharon brings deep knowledge and a true passion for agility to her Tuesday and Wednesday classes at One Smart Dog. She also offers private agility training and is constantly expanding her skills through ongoing education and training. Sharon loves helping dogs and their people find that “ah-ha!” moment—and her goal is always to strengthen the bond between handler and dog through clear communication and teamwork.
When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her competing in agility, rally, conformation, and dock diving!

🐾 Huge congratulations to Instructor Mimi and her amazing pup, Lovie! 🐾

At just 2 years old and in only her third show, Lovie made an unforgettable impression at the Mansfield AKC show, earning Winners ♀️🐕 all four days, then taking Best of Winners and Best of Breed on the final day! 🙌✨

Handled by her breeder, Debby McLaughlin of Faith Driven Farm (yes, the same Debby guardian the Cleveland Browns mascots 🐶🏈), Lovie truly shined in the ring.

Lovie has been part of the One Smart Dog family, taking classes and beginning her Canine Good Citizen journey tomorrow! We couldn’t be more proud of Lovie & her family. 💙🐕

Meet your instructor, Tara Gifford! With over 35 years in the animal training field—including marine mammals and zoo animals—Tara brings a unique and expert perspective to her dog training classes. She teaches Puppy Foundations 1, Trek & Train, Wednesday night Scent Work, and works closely with clients on complex behavior cases. A Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Fear Free Certified Professional, Tara’s passion lies in helping people build strong, positive relationships with their dogs. You might also spot her and her dogs, Juno and Phoenix, training or competing at local trials!

A great team and a great instructor!

🏳️‍🌈 Ruth Ellis (1899 - 2000) was the daughter of former slaves. She came out as a le***an when she was 16-years-old to the complete acceptance of her family. In 1937, Ruth and her longtime partner moved to Detroit from their hometown of Springfield, Illinois for the promise of higher wages. There, she became the first woman in Michigan to run her own printing business. She printed fliers, posters, and stationary in the front room of her home, which also quickly became a hotspot for Black LGBTQ social life. Before long, Ruth was helping those who came around in any way she could, including by paying for college tuitions. After the Stonewall uprising, 70-year-old Ruth began giving speeches in support of gay and le***an rights all across the country. She remained an activist for the rest of her long life and even spent her 100th birthday leading the San Francisco D**e March. At the time of her death at 101, she was recognized as the oldest out le***an in the US. She is the subject of the documentary "Living With Pride: Ruth C. Ellis @ 100" and is the namesake of the Ruth Ellis Center, a shelter for homeless and at-risk LGBTQ youth in Detroit.

Meet your instructor, Mimi Brown!
Mimi teaches Puppy Foundations 1 & 2, Canine Essentials, and a fun Nosework Games class, plus a popular Focus series offered twice a year to help tackle common behavior challenges. She also offers private training sessions, either in-home or at One Smart Dog - these fill up quickly due to her thoughtful, results-driven approach! With a lifelong love of dogs and a background in HR, Mimi brings patience, insight, and a passion for helping people raise well-mannered pups. Her gentle, trust-based approach (inspired by her father and grandmother) has made her a favorite among students and their dogs alike!

Meet your instructor, Barbara Dillon! With over 33 years of experience in the dog sport world, Barb brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for helping dogs and their people succeed. After decades in conformation, her Belgian Sheepdog Emmy sparked a love for agility and other performance sports that continues to grow. At One Smart Dog, Barb teaches Rally, Agility Foundations, Agility Focus, and sport foundations classes like her upcoming Delayed Reinforcement—always with a focus on positive reinforcement and connection.
