Foster to Forever: Malachi’s Story 🐾

When Malachi, a beautiful Husky with soulful eyes, first arrived at H.A.L.O., he was scared, silent, and shut down. He refused to eat, and his anxiety was so severe it began to take a toll on his health—causing gastrointestinal issues that made his recovery even harder.

But Malachi’s story was far from over.

A compassionate family opened their hearts and home to foster him, giving him the space and stability he desperately needed. Slowly but surely, Malachi began to heal. He started eating again, his eyes lit up with curiosity, and his tail—once tucked—began to wag with joy.

The bond that formed was undeniable.

This wasn’t just a foster. This was family. 💙

Malachi became a classic “foster fail” (our favorite kind!) and is now officially adopted, living his best life surrounded by the people who helped him find peace, confidence, and unconditional love.

From shelter shutdown to a forever home full of hope—thank you to Malachi’s family for showing us all what patience, love, and a second chance can do. 🏡

Lulu’s Healing Journey Continues!

Today, Lulu had her second appointment at Treasure Coast Rehab — and she bravely began a brand new treatment: shockwave therapy.

This cutting-edge approach is designed to jumpstart healing in her deepest wounds, helping close the door on infection and open the path to other physical therapy options.

Because of the severity of her wounds, many traditional therapies just aren’t possible right now — but we’re not giving up. We’re throwing everything we can at her recovery, and Lulu, true to form, is meeting every challenge with love, patience, and her perfect angel heart. 💕

We are beyond grateful to have this incredible team surrounding her, and even more thankful to all of you for continuing to lift her up.

Lulu’s journey is still unfolding, but with your support, we are walking this road together — one healing step at a time. 💪🐾

✨ Lulu is finally HOME! ✨

After weeks of intensive care, two major surgeries, and a fight against infection, our brave girl is finally out of the ER.

Her journey isn’t over yet. Lulu’s next steps include daily wound care and specialized rehabilitation with the amazing team at Treasure Coast Animal Rehab & Fitness , who are helping her regain strength, mobility, and confidence one step at a time.

💜 We are beyond grateful to everyone who stood by her side — donating, sharing her story, and sending love when she needed it most.

Thanks to you, Lulu has a fighting chance at the full, happy life she deserves. The road ahead is still long, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that Lulu is determined to heal. Her spirit is strong, her tail is wagging, and her will to live is unstoppable.

We will remain right by her side as she continues her incredible comeback story!

HALO No Kill Rescue

H.A.L.O. Rescue was created in 2006 with a mission to create a NO KILL safe haven for abused and abandoned animals. H.A.L.O. believes in a community where there are no more homeless pets. What sets us apart from other shelters is we are Indian River County's only No Kill animal shelter for dogs, cats and small animals. This means we do not euthanize for age, space, medical needs, or behavioral issues. Once an animal enters H.A.L.O. we make a pledge to them to provide all physical, emotional, and medical care needed until a forever home is found. While we primarily work within Indian River County to make Indian River County No Kill, we also bring in animals all over the state and even outside of Florida.

HALO saves over 2000 animals each year but our work is not done. In 2016 1,400 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens still lost their lives in Indian River county. With your help, HALO is here to end this because there is a better way. It doesn't have to happen. We depend on animals for everything including unconditional love but can they depend on us in return.
