Breed Documentation from Purdue University- June 2023
This is a PCA (principal components analysis) plot generated at Purdue using genome-wide data from the cream Boxer family, many other (unrelated) Boxers, and eight other dog breeds. This PCA plot creates a 2-D spacing based on relatedness between all samples - each dot is a dog, and each breed is given a different color, the closer the dots are together, the more closely related the dogs are. As you can see, the cream Boxers fall perfectly within the Boxer grouping and are nowhere near any of the other breeds.
This is a different way of showing relatedness than the 100% Boxer results generated via an Embark or Wisdom Panel test - meaning that the algorithms and statistics are different - but shows the results in an easy-to-understand graph.
While we are a research laboratory, and not a commercial laboratory, we are finding the same results as the commercial labs: the cream Boxers are 100% Boxer. One more thing to keep in mind, “Boxers (including the cream Boxers) aren't anywhere close to the other breeds in any of the PCA’s."
