🐾 New Client Appointment Deposit Update 🐾

We are so excited to welcome new patients and their families to Midtown Mutts! 💙🐶🐱

To help us protect appointment availability and ensure we can provide the best care possible, a non-refundable new client deposit is required to schedule your first appointment.

This deposit will be applied toward your pet’s visit at the time of your appointment. Due to the limited availability of veterinary appointments, deposits are non-refundable for missed appointments, cancellations made less than 48 hours before your scheduled visit or no-shows.

Once you and your pet are established clients with Midtown Mutts, a deposit will not be required for future routine appointments. The only exceptions may include intensive care hospitalization or surgical procedures, where deposits may be required due to the nature of the care being provided.

We truly appreciate your understanding and respect for our team’s time and for the other pets who need care. These policies allow us to continue offering timely appointments and the best possible care for every patient who walks through our doors. 🐾

Thank you for trusting Midtown Mutts Veterinary Care with your furry family members. We can’t wait to meet you! ❤️

🐾 The sweetest friendship: a senior dog & a tiny kitten 💕

They say opposites attract…and we think they got it right. 🥹🐶🐱

There’s something magical about watching a senior dog meet a tiny kitten. One brings years of wisdom, patience, and a lifetime of love… the other brings curiosity, chaos, and a whole lot of tiny toe beans. 🐾

Sometimes the best friendships are the unexpected ones — a gentle old soul showing a little kitten the ropes, and a playful baby reminding a senior pup that there’s still plenty of fun left in life. ❤️

Senior pets have so much love left to give, and every stage of life deserves compassion, comfort, and a chance to be cherished.

Share a photo of your senior + baby animal friendship below! We want to see the unlikely duos. 🥰

Every pet that walks through our doors leaves an imprint on our hearts. From playful puppies and curious kittens to the gray-faced seniors who have shared years of unconditional love, each one becomes part of the Midtown Mutts family.

Today, we're grateful for every muddy paw print on the floor, every nose print on the windows, and every cherished memory our patients bring into our lives.

🪱 Tapeworms in Dogs & Cats: What Pet Parents Should Know

If you've ever noticed what looks like tiny grains of rice around your pet's rear end, tail, or bedding, your furry friend may have tapeworms.

What are tapeworms? Tapeworms are intestinal parasites that live in the small intestine of dogs and cats. The most common tapeworm is spread when pets accidentally swallow an infected flea while grooming.

Signs your pet may have tapeworms:
🐾 Rice-like segments around the rear end or in the stool
🐾 Scooting or excessive licking of the hind end
🐾 Mild digestive upset
🐾 Increased appetite in some pets
🐾 Often, no signs at all!

How do pets get them?
🔹 Swallowing infected fleas (most common)
🔹 Hunting and eating infected rodents or wildlife
🔹 Exposure to environments with flea infestations

Prevention is key! The best way to prevent tapeworms is through consistent flea prevention. Even indoor pets can be exposed to fleas, which means they can also be exposed to tapeworms.

Good news: Tapeworms are usually easy to diagnose and treat with prescription medication. If you spot those telltale "rice grains," give us a call.
At Midtown Mutts, we're here to help keep your pets parasite-free from nose to tail. 🐶🐱❤️

📞 Contact us if you have questions about tapeworm prevention, flea control, or deworming recommendations for your pet.

👁️ Glaucoma isn't just a human problem—it can affect our pets, too.

Glaucoma occurs when pressure builds inside the eye, causing pain and potentially leading to permanent vision loss if left untreated. Unfortunately, many pets are masters at hiding discomfort, which is why early detection is so important.

Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Red or cloudy eyes
🐾 Squinting or excessive tearing
🐾 Enlarged eyes
🐾 Bumping into objects
🐾 Changes in behavior or activity level

If something seems "off" with your pet's eyes, don't wait. Glaucoma is considered an emergency, and prompt treatment can make a significant difference in preserving vision and keeping your pet comfortable.

At Midtown Mutts, we're committed to helping your pets see the world clearly and live their happiest, healthiest lives. If you have concerns about your pet's eyes, give us a call—we're here to help.

Because healthy eyes mean more years of seeing the people they love. ❤️
