We are extremely excited to announce that we will officially be partnering with The Birthstone Center for Appalachian Perinatal Care!
āØ With that being said, moving forward, the FIRST WEDNESDAY of every month, 100% of our proceeds will be donated to Birthstone!
In addition to that:
ā¢ We will be asking customers if theyād like to round up as a donation
ā¢ We will have a donation jar and QR code available for direct giving (cash or card)
ā¢ We will now be a safe drop-off location for supplies for anyone who wants to donate but canāt make it to Sylva
We are so excited to be able to offer this and to give back alongside such an amazing and supportive community. Our customers have been nothing short of incredibleā¦. we truly wouldnāt be here without every single one of you. We hope to be able to share even just a little of your support with this amazing organization.
For those of you who arenāt familiar with this wonderful nonprofit organization, it is run by Brandi Harrisonā¦ an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a Bachelor of Science in Maternal Child Health, a DONA-trained birth doula, and a mom herself. Some of you may also know her from her time as an LC at Harris Regional Hospital.
Brandi is truly incredible and has done so much for our community. During Hurricane Helene, while pregnant, she still made sure mothers affected had access to care, breastmilk, safe water, and pumping supplies. She stepped into a huge role supporting safe infant feeding in emergencies and created the SAFE Team (Support and Advocacy for Feeding Emergencies). For six months, she worked seven days a weekā¦ deploying volunteer infant feeding specialists into the field to support families and relief workers. Since then, she has continued that work by training healthcare workers and has helped facilitate over 100,000 infant meals through donor milk sharing to families who needed it most.
The Birthstone Centerās mission is to provide equitable, culturally responsive perinatal care. They offer services like lactation support, doula care, birth services, pelvic floor and pediatric therapy, tongue tie support, and moreā¦ tailored to each familyās needs. Their goal is to create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment while breaking barriers to care so every familyā¦. regardless of income, insurance, or zip codeā¦ has access to the support they deserve. They are truly working to help families build the āvillageā we all need.
Brandi does so much to make sure the care mothers need isnāt a luxury, but something accessible to everyone.
On a personal note, Brandi has impacted both of us in a big way. She helped Kady so much throughout her breastfeeding journey, and Kady truly credits her for that success. My first interaction with Brandi was when a friend of mine was in the hospital struggling with breastfeedingā¦ Brandi immediately offered to come help at the drop of a hat, even with a newborn of her own. No mention of money, insurance, nothing. She even offered to come to her home after discharge when other support wasnāt helpful. Every interaction Iāve had with Brandi has been her pouring everything she has into helping mothers and women in need. She has worked so hard to build this organization while also making sure the women involved are paid and treated fairly.
As full-time moms running a businessā¦ and both of us making a huge effort to breastfeed (Iām still currently breastfeeding my son)ā¦ supporting other moms has always been a big part of our mission. We know how hard it is to go back to work while raising babies, and weāve always wanted to use our business in any way we can to give back to other momsā¦ working and non-working. When we saw that Birthstone needed help with donations, we knew immediately we wanted to be involved.
Just a quick PSA for current customers:
If you have an appointment scheduled on one of these Wednesdays, it will NOT affect your appointment, price, or services in any wayā¦. both current and future bookings!
We may also offer limited walk-in services on these days (nail trims/dremel, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, a**l glands, etc.), so please keep an eye on our page for updates for times. We are typically appointment only, but weāll do our best to fit in what we can. Youāre also welcome to book these services in advance for those daysā¦ it definitely helps us plan better, but we donāt want to turn away any opportunity to support Birthstone.
We also just want to take a moment to say thank you. We truly have the most supportive and wonderful clients. We know it can be chaotic at times with us being full-time moms, but every time we start to feel discouraged, one of you walks through the door with encouragement and kindness that keeps us going.
We are so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. Your support allows us not only to run this business, but to be present moms and watch our kids growā¦. and that means everything to us. You are supporting women, families, and dogs in this community, and we will never be able to fully express how much that means.
