We are here to help make sure you have everything necessary so your pets have a safe July 4th weekend. Sadly it looks like fireworks events are schedule for every day starting tomorrow. Most of us with noise sensitive dogs and cats have already stocked up on calming products and yummy distractive treats & chews but we have plenty more if you need anything.
🐶🇺🇸🐱

Did you know that more pets go missing on July 4th than any other time of the year? They bolt from yards, homes, cars, backyard BBQs, and firework celebrations. Let’s change this now!

Join me in reimagining the way we celebrate! While fireworks may dazzle some, they pose a tragic risk for many, from our beloved pets to veterans and others who suffer from PTSD.

Keep your fur kids safe:

First and foremost, if you are attending firework displays—LEAVE your pets at home where they feel most secure. Or better yet…

Stay home and snuggle up indoors (don’t forget pet ID tags!) and shield them from the overwhelming noise.

Pets might resort to desperate measures to find safety, so take precautions—don’t leave gates and doors open, shut pets behind closed doors when answering the front door, crate and use a leash for more control.

Increase the ambient noise with soothing music or white noise to help drown out fireworks.

Close curtains to create a cozy and serene environment.

There are many natural calming remedies to help soothe an anxious pet’s nerves without reaching for pharmaceuticals with harmful side effects. It is very hard to recommend any particular one because every pet is unique. I’ve personally given my pups L-theanine, Bach’s Rescue Remedy, Melatonin, and CBD with varying degrees of success. I encourage you to do some research on any of the following: Valerian, L-Theanine, Bach’s Rescue Remedy, Calming treats and biscuits with a combination of calming supplements, CBD /H**p oil (which can also help with joint pain), and Melatonin. And PLEASE share your suggestions in the comments below!

Extreme anxiety cases may call for professional guidance‚ consult your veterinarian for prescription sedatives if necessary.

Let’s create a world where every celebration includes the happiness and security of EVERYONE, including our cherished pets. Together, we can make a difference. Choose love, choose safety, and make this year’s festivities a joyous occasion for all, both big and small! x0Amy

We’ve had so much fun sharing pup cups in honor of Thomas Taulbee! His legacy and positive impact on our community will be felt forever! Kindness has always been a part of Paws on the Mountain but Thomas made us realize that it is one of the most important aspects of connecting with our community on a daily basis. He will be remembered and missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. 🐶💗🐱

To say we fell in love at first sight would be an understatement. We will never forgot that morning 12 years ago when we woke up before sunrise to be the 1st in line for the opportunity to adopt this beautiful girl. She has added so much love to our family and has taught us many valuable lessons along the way. We are forever grateful for our kind friends at the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society for rescuing Emma’s mom and all her puppies along with all the other loving rescue people in our community that helped care for her mom until she gave birth under the barn in Highlands. We don’t take a second with our smiley, lovable, trail running, creek swiming goofball for granted! We hope we are lucky enough to enjoy many more years together. Her brother Bailey thinks she is the coolest CATahoula mix ever and loves to shower her with kisses 🐶❤️🐱
