Canine Adoption and Rescue League is an IRS 501(c)(3) Private Non-Profit No-Kill Organization. We rely on donations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. Since 1996, Canine Adoption and Rescue League has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned, and homeless dogs. Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes. We make a lifetime

commitment to all of our dogs. Canine Adoption and Rescue League receives hundreds of calls from people who must find a home for a stray, a litter of puppies or even a family pet.

Adoption Pupdate🥳 Gilley found his forever home!! After a few months with C.A.R.L., during which he showed up to more events than some of our volunteers, he has officially settled into life with his new family. They say he has made himself right at home, and honestly, we are not surprised. This is what it is all about. Congratulations to Gilley and his family. We could not be happier for you.

❤️‍🩹 Medical foster needed❤️‍🩹 2 year old goof ball Deuce was saved from euthanasia at West Valley Shelter and now resides at our kennel in Santa Paula. While he is safe, he unfortunately still lives in a kennel environment. Being the happy boy he is, he developed what is often called “happy tail” from wagging his tail against the chain-link fence. What started as a pretty routine kennel injury developed far past what we usually see from this type of injury, and unfortunately our only option was to amputate part of his tail 😢 A dog’s tail is part of their spine, so this is a major medical procedure.

At his day 4 check up today, the vet noted that it is healing well, but she has serious concerns for when it is time to take the bandage off. The kennel environment is dirty and rough, so infection or reinjury are strong possibilities, but keeping it bandaged for too long can hinder the healing process. The vet stressed that what Deuce really needs right now is a FOSTER HOME to give him the best chance of healing. If you might be able to step up and open your home temporarily to Deuce, please fill out an application using the link/qr code on the photo or the link below.

Meet Wh***ey!!
Wh***ey’s original family couldn’t keep him due to an apartment restriction, but luckily he landed a wonderful foster family. They describe him as sweet, energetic, and just as happy cuddling on a lap as he is playing. He loves going everywhere with his people, from the dog park to car rides to restaurant patios, and he walks great on leash for all of it.

Wh***ey is shy meeting new dogs at first, but once he warms up he loves to play, so his fosters think he’d do well with another dog sibling.

Auction sneak peek. A w**e tasting for four at Majestic Oak Vineyard. A round of golf overlooking the Channel Islands at Olivas Links. An aquarium adventure, a gourmet gift basket, a piece of movie history for the collectors among us. This is just a small taste of what is up for bid at Pooch Parade this year, with items ranging from cozy little treats to some genuinely showstopping packages.

🌈 In loving memory of Kobe. When Kobe came to us from VCAS, he had been overlooked because of his health issues. It didn’t take long for us to discover what a sweet, loving little dog he truly was. After a thorough veterinary exam, Kobe was started on a kidney diet, and he began gaining weight. Before long, his gentle personality captured the hearts of many, and he found the loving home he deserved. We were also thrilled to hear that he had gained strength in his hind legs and was able to move around his home and back yard with much more ease.

Recently we received an update from his family. Sadly, Kobe has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge. While it appears he was older than we originally believe, we are so grateful he was able to spend his last days in a home where he was loved, cherished, and cared for by his adoptive family. This is why we do what we do. This is why we rescue. Knowing that we are able to give Kobe the love, comfort, and dignity he deserved in the final chapter of his live means everything to us. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to his family for taking in a senior boy and not letting his age deter their willingness to be the home he needed.

Every dog deserves to know the love of a family, and we are thankful Kobe did. Run free, sweet Kobe, you will always be remembered.
