Canine Adoption and Rescue League (also known as C.A.R.L.) is an IRC 501(c) (3) Private Non-Profit No-Kill Organization. We rely on d

onations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. It operates almost entirely by volunteers. Since 1996, Canine Adoption and Rescue League has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned and homeless dogs. Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our dogs. Canine Adoption & Rescue Leagues Mission:
Canine Adoption and Rescue League's mission is to advocate for animal welfare seeking to end the needless deaths of companion animals through our adoption, education, and outreach programs. In 2005 C.A.R.L purchased an operating boarding kennel open to the public and centrally located to the west of Santa Paula off the 126 Freeway. The facility was re-named to C.A.R.L.'s Pet Care Center. The two acre property includes a 2,400 square foot on site residence, 60 outdoor runs with concrete foundation and concrete brick houses, 30 indoor/outdoor runs with concrete flooring, 15 outdoor runs with concrete flooring and concrete brick sidewalls, 50 exercise yards and grooming facilities. The front acre of the property is the public boarding and caretaker residence. The back acre is the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary for C.A.R.L.'s adoptables. C.A.R.L.'s Pet Care Center operations are overseen by Canine Adoption and Rescue Leagues Board of Directors. C.A.R.L.'s Pet Care Center's Mission:
Providing high-quality care with kindness in a home away from home to meet the needs of Ventura County's loving pet owners as well as generating revenue for the rescue. All proceeds from the public boarding clientele support the kennel operations and provide funds to support the rescue.

May is National Pet Month, with May 7-15 specifically as National Pet Week. May 8th is National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day and don't forget, National Dog Mom's Day on May 13th! For whatever pet holiday we celebrate, lets just celebrate the animals that enrich our lives so much. Last Saturday, April 8th, we had a group of Seabees come out to volunteer (there are a few missing in this picture). They did such great work and we are truly grateful for their hard work and help with moving mounds of gravel to play yards, removing old turf, laying down new turf, as well as some weeding. So much work done in just 3 hours!

There was a group here in late November as well, and a few of these were here then, so we didn't scare them off. We welcome them back anytime! Thank you Seabees!
