Here are some of my favorite photos from this amazing trip to Tanzania.
Our team of 13 people from across the country met up in Amsterdam and flew together to Tanzania, where we spent the next nine days in the Serengeti working with Rabies Free Africa, an initiative affiliated with Washington State University. The program works to eradicate dog-mediated human rabies across the African continent by targeting the primary source of the disease—domestic dogs—through mass vaccinations, community education, and surveillance, with the goal of eliminating human rabies deaths completely. We spent one day vaccinating dogs and cats, going from Maasai boma to boma, then two more days running vaccine clinics at central-point communities. Together, over 1,450 dogs and cats were vaccinated during this trip. It wasn’t always easy to get the vaccines in as these animals are not like ours at home, but we did it!

🌟 We are so proud of sweet Sami and just had to show off her incredible accomplishment! 🌟

Sami is currently thriving on a weight management prescription diet, with carrots as her favorite healthy treat. Through a dedicated weight management program and the commitment of her loving family, she has successfully lost 20 pounds over the past year, including an additional 7 pounds since her last visit in March 2026.

Maintaining a healthy weight can significantly improve a pet's quality of life, mobility, and overall health, and Sami is a wonderful example of what can be achieved with consistency and teamwork.

We are back with another update on Dr. Kenny's Africa trip! What an incredible experience they are having! The team traveled Boma to Boma, vaccinating dogs and cats throughout the community before hosting rabies vaccination clinics at two different locations. Together, they vaccinated more than 800 dogs and cats, helping protect both animals and people from this preventable disease.

We are so proud of Dr. Kenny for being part of this life-saving mission with Rabies Free Africa and making a difference one vaccination at a time. 🐾💙🌍💉

The Rabies Free Africa group all made it safely to Arusha, Tanzania. They had a quiet rest day, with a little safari thrown in, before heading to Wassa on Sunday. Monday, they were going from Boma to Boma (home to home) to vaccinate their pets for Rabies. More to follow! 🌍🦁🐘🦒🦓🦏🦛🐆☀️
