Today we got to celebrate two very special chihuahua siblings—Jake, who just turned 17 (wow! 👑), and his little sis Ava, who turned 9! 💕 These two may be small in size, but their personalities are larger than life.
Jake strutted around like the wise birthday king he is, soaking up all the snuggles and attention. 👑 Meanwhile, Ava kept things playful and sweet, showing off her fun-loving spirit. Together, they made the paw-ty twice as fun! 🎂🐶

🌟🐾 Meet Riley — Our Palo Alto August Top Dog! 🐾🌟
This sweet and spunky 15-month-old Golden Retriever has been bringing golden sunshine to Downtown Dogs for the past 9 months, and we can’t imagine daycare without her! ☀️🐶
Riley’s journey started with a rescue — she, her siblings, and their mama were saved from a backyard breeding situation by the amazing folks at True Love Rescue in Lodi, CA. Since then, she’s been living her best life… and we’re so lucky to be part of it! 💛
She’s mastered all the big commands — Sit, Down, Stay, Come, and Touch — though we’ll admit, listening isn’t exactly her strong suit when her favorite orange ball is involved. 🎾 Fetch is her absolute obsession, and she can spend hours chasing that ball or proudly collecting every stick in sight like it’s her personal treasure hunt.
But Riley’s more than just an athlete — she’s a clever little escape artist! She’s figured out how to open lever-style doors and round doorknobs. If there’s a door, she’ll find a way through it. We’re convinced she’s only one step away from picking locks. 🔓🐕
With her boundless energy, big heart, and smart, silly personality, Riley has truly earned her spot as our August Top Dog. We adore you, Riley! 💛

🌟🐾 Meet Ellie — Our San Jose August Top Dog! 🐾🌟
Our favorite low-rider with the big personality and even bigger heart! This 5-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi has been brightening up our San Jose playfloor since January 2024, and it’s about time she got the royal spotlight she deserves. 👑
Ellie traveled all the way from St. Louis to her forever home in California, and from day one, it was clear she was destined for pampering. She rules the daycare like the little queen she is — whether she’s working on her impeccable manners (Sit, Wait, Down, Drop It, and the ever-adorable Hi with a high-five ✋🐶) or chasing tennis balls with her signature corgi wiggle. 🎾💨
And her friendship style? Completely unmatched. When meeting a new dog, she’ll instantly flop over for a belly sniff — it’s her signature move and it never fails to make staff laugh and new friends feel welcome.
From sunny lounging with those little legs stretched behind her, to zooming after her favorite toy, to soaking up all the cuddles from staff, Ellie fills our days with joy, laughter, and love.
