I’m really bummed to share that Coffee Companions won’t be participating in Bark in the Park this Saturday. This festival means so much to me because it’s our community—the animal welfare family, all the vendors, and everyone who stops by to support and share a moment over cold brews.

I’m especially going to miss handing out Pup Cups to my buddies 🐶💕

I got sick on Sunday and still haven’t recovered. I’ve been trying to push through all week, hoping I’d bounce back in time, but today I had to make the tough call to sit this one out so I can come back strong for future events.

Please stop by booth for the Dogs Are Dope merch. 💯 of the profits are going towards fixing animals in our community!🐶🐱💕

Thank you all for understanding. I’ll definitely miss being there, but I’m looking forward to seeing everyone next year.

🚨 UPDATE: Bruce Banner’s deadline has been extended — we have until SATURDAY, 8/9 to find him a . This is our last shot. 🐾

Bruce is 99% Bruce, 1% Hulk — a goofy, loving, adventure buddy who’s been stuck in the shelter too long. Outside his kennel, he’s calm, affectionate, and ready to be your hiking partner or couch hippo.

It’s taken me some time to put this post togther but I wanted to share this with My Community!🐶☕💕

Last Tuesday, July 15—just one day after his 30th birthday—I lost my son, Kyle, also known in the drag community as Carmel.

Kyle/Carmel was more than my son. He was a vibrant, bold, and beautiful soul who lived life unapologetically. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and a talented drag performer, he lit up every room with joy, creativity, and heart.

Coffee Companions has always been about community and compassion—whether it’s advocating for shelter dogs or connecting with the community through coffee at events. Kyle lived those same values in his own way, using his art to lift others up and show people they were seen and loved.

As I grieve, I’m reminded how deeply connected the animal welfare world and the LGBTQ+ and drag communities really are—built on love, resilience, chosen family, and fighting for those too often overlooked.

I’ll keep showing up for animals and community in his memory—with more pride, more softness, and more fire🔥—just like he lived. Thank you for taking the time to read about my son, Kyle/Carmel, and to honor the art, joy, and courage he brought to the world through drag.
