Everyone deserves a second chance, human and animal alike.

Today, our team had the pleasure of giving a tour to a group from a local recovery treatment organization. This group generously used their time to raise money and purchase supplies such as food and toys to help support the animals in our care. In return, our team gave them a behind the scenes look at what we do to show them the impact that their hard work will have.

This group was moved by our mission and the chance to be part of it, just as we were moved to see their commitment to improving themselves. We look forward to seeing these donors come back as volunteers, after all, nothing helps a healing journey quite like finding someone to share it with.

After making the journey from Texas to Utah, Lavender, Huggie Bear, Taika, and Copper are ready to find the one thing they’ve been waiting for…a family.

These four came to Salt Lake County Animal Services through a lifesaving transport after Best Friends Animal Society helped create space at Austin Pets Alive for pets displaced by the devastating Texas floods. Now it’s their turn to start fresh.

🐶 Big dog adoptions are just $75 and include:
• Spay/neuter
• Microchip
• Age-appropriate vaccinations
• A lifetime of love

Four dogs. One incredible journey. One chance at a fresh start. ❤️

Meet Lavender, Huggie Bear, Taika, and Copper.

These four recently arrived at Salt Lake County Animal Services after an incredible rescue effort. When devastating floods impacted Texas, Best Friends Animal Society stepped in to help. They transferred dogs from Austin Pets Alive, creating space for pets displaced by the flooding. We’re honored to welcome these pups to Utah, where they’ll begin their next chapter in search of loving homes.

Big dog adoption fees are just $75 and include:
🐾 Spay/neuter
🐾 Microchip
🐾 Age-appropriate vaccinations
🐾 A lifetime of unconditional love

Today, Best Friends Salt Lake City welcomed 88 dogs and cats from Texas after stepping up to make room for animals displaced by the devastating floods.

We were honored to help by bringing four dogs back to Salt Lake County Animal Services, creating a little more space so they can continue saying “yes” to animals in need.

Now we need your help.

Our shelter is still full of incredible dogs waiting for families. Every adoption opens another kennel, gives another animal a chance, and helps shelters work together when communities need it most.

Built in 1991. Still serving animals today.

While our mission has evolved into Utah’s largest no-kill municipal shelter, our adoption kennels haven’t. They were never designed for the time, care, and compassion today’s animals deserve.

This year’s Furever Gala with a Purrpose will help us raise $257,000 to transform these spaces into larger, more comforting rooms where animals can heal while they wait for a family.
