After four long months apart, Kita is finally back with her dad!

When they entered our crisis sheltering program, finding housing that allowed a large dog like Kita, who also struggled to get along with other dogs, was a major challenge. Her dad never gave up. He kept searching, applying, and advocating until they found a place where they could both belong.

Every reunion like this reminds us why Ruff Haven exists. Thank you for helping keep pets and people together. 💚

A couple of weeks ago, Ruff Haven responded to an apartment fire that displaced several families and their pets. Fourteen dogs were affected. Many of the dogs and puppies were brought to our facility immediately for care with one of our vet volunteers, Dr. Putnam. Our team and a second volunteer veterinarian, Dr. Parkanzky, visited the emergency shelter that same night to check on the others.

Most pets were able to stay safely with their families after receiving vet checks and vaccines, and two dogs entered our crisis sheltering program while their people work to stabilize.

It was a true community effort and a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Keeping pets with their people, even in the hardest moments. 💚

We love hearing from families after reunification. Dahlia stayed with us 10 months ago while her mom got back on her feet, and now she’s doing great! “She’s been very happy.” That’s what it’s all about. 💚💚

We recently launched in-person volunteer orientations in our new space for both dog walking and cat room shifts!

These orientations help prepare volunteers to provide enrichment, exercise, and care for the animals in our program—whether it’s walking resident client dogs or spending quality time with cats in our adoption room.

🐾 Our Biggest Vaccine Clinic Yet! 🐾

What an incredible day! Yesterday we helped 282 cats and dogs receive vaccines and microchips, the most we’ve ever done at a single clinic!

We’re so grateful to our amazing volunteers, veterinary team, and the Spanish Fork community for coming together to help keep pets healthy and families together!

With colder weather setting in, we distributed coats and pet supplies at this month's Community Resource Fair to help keep pets and their people safe and healthy.

These events allow us to meet community members where they are and ensure families have the resources they need to care for their animals year-round. 💚

There is no official registration or certification for service dogs in the U.S., despite what many websites claim. Legitimate service dogs are recognized by their training and the tasks they perform, not by a registry or ID.

At Ruff Haven, we provide education and resources to help community partners and pet owners understand the laws and responsibilities surrounding service animals. Sharing accurate information helps protect the rights of people who rely on service dogs and keeps our community pet-friendly and informed. 💚
