Let's talk about an elephant in the room. The word ABUSE is being thrown about like candy at a parade. There are rumors being spewed & posted on Facebook that I run a facility that is abusing animals, she is saying she has "spoken" to 20-30 of my clients who have said this. Well then bring me the proof. My shop has been open to the public from day 1, I have taken time from grooming to show a new person around and answer questions, we have big windows and a lobby for you to sit while they are being groomed if you choose. I have been transparent from the time we have opened and will continue to do so, feel free to speak to me anytime. Let's talk about abuse.
In my industry I have seen too many cases of real abuse & neglected animals, we do what we can, where we can, as do most groomers. I have donated my time & services to may shelters & animal rescues, with the hopes of helping where i can. This is where I give back to my community by helping the dogs and cats in need. Here is a little history for you.
Animals have been humanized by us for a long time. Animals are not like people they are energy based creature who work off instinct. I have been studying dog psychology for at least 25+ years of grooming and dog handling. This is my passion & what i do! Its not a part time gig, or a fly by night business, this is a 24/7 type of business. My whole world is about helping dogs, its not just a cause, some of it is done in silence knowing I have made a better life for a dog I was able to help.
When you say the word abuse I think of a dog who is physically wounded by a person or not knowing where its next meal is coming from, or if they have been dumped to fend for themselves. People that is abuse! Abuse should be reported and handled by the proper authorities not the Facebook police.
Here are some ways people may think abuse may be happening but its not.
Using a muzzle on a dog during grooming to help protect yourself and them from injuries from sharp shears and clippers is not abuse, teaching a dog to walk on a slip-lead or leash with self confidence is not abuse, shaving the hair off a dog who is matted to the skin is not abuse, trying to trim a puppies hair in front of its eyes and holding it in place so it doesn't hurt itself is not abuse, giving a dog a loud "Hey" to get its attention is not abuse.
In a dog pack there is always an alpha, well that is what I am in my facility, I am the one who controls the aggressive or non compliant dogs who needs strong directions, with strong energy that says you can trust me and I will do my best to protect you from whatever fear you may have. I'm not one of those baby groomers who have no idea, how to work with a truly scared animal, I dont have the time to take silly pictures and use AI to animate them, I take what I do seriously with proven techniques. Yes your dog may come in a little nervous or may shake a little, but they are feeding off your energy and the energy off other dogs who dont like people or other dogs, trust that as soon as you leave they are doing all the things we have taught then to do while being groomed. Trust that these allegations are unfounded and are damaging to my reputation, this must stop.
I run a shop with people whom I trust with the care of your dogs, I trust they have the same integrity i have where animals are concerned, this is not easy work its a lot of sleepless nights and hard days doing our best to make your dog comfortable and beautiful. Please if you have concerns about my facility come to me with it, I need facts not emotions, and if we are not the right groomer for you then please find one who is.
Thank you Kathrine.
