GAIN Michigan G.A.I.N. (Gratiot Animals In Need) provides opportunities for low income pet owners for cat & dog veterinary visits & spay/neuter. We can help!

(Gratiot Animals In Need) promotes spay and neuter education and offers financial assistance and access to low or no cost spay and neuter services for pets in Gratiot County, Michigan. To promote pet retention and reduce the number of pets surrendered to the local shelter, G.A.I.N. will assist pet owners with:
basic veterinary care
food assistance
proper outdoor sheltering
fostering a pet

G.A.I.N. can also help keep your barn cat or community cat populations in check via its Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR) program. Need a barn cat to keep vermin in check? Hello G.A.I.N. followers! We have an adorable litter of kittens to share with you! This is the T.V. host litter! They are currently 11 weeks old.

Mathis is a handsome black and white tuxedo boy. He is sweet and calm. He loves to play! Mathis also loves to be held!

Judge Judy is a soft gray tiger girl. She is also polydactyl! This means she has extra toes! She is very gentle and a total sweetheart. She is curious, and she loves to play with toys! Judge Judy also enjoys a good snuggle.

Springer is a striking darkly striped tiger girl. She is the independent one of her litter! She is very playful. She doesn’t enjoy being held often because she likes to be on the move. But Springer loves a good toy. Can be a little feisty, but it’s just a show she is really a sweetie.

Maury is a light orange boy (sometimes called buff). He is a mischievous and playful kitten! He enjoys being snuggled and loved on.

Dr. Phil is a medium gray lightly striped tiger boy. He is mild mannered, calm, and curious! He is a sweet boy and also very snuggly.

All of these kittens are spayed/neutered, age appropriately vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites.

They are less than 24 hours old and will need constant care for the next several weeks.

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! This is Tongs! Tongs is a 12 week old male kitten.

He is the LIFE of the party! 🎉 He pounces and plays like no one's business. Feathered wand toys are his favorite to play with but just about any toy will do.

He's also a cuddler (once he wears out all that kitten energy). Another thing you should know about Tongs is that he has decided that wet food equates to happiness in life. He WILL let you know if you're late for his dinner.

He honestly has been a joy to foster, not only is he gorgeous, but he is sweet and fun too! That's the whole package 😉

Tongs is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites. He is ready to become someone's best buddy!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers!

We know that everyone has been excited for some kittens for adoption! These kittens aren't quite ready, but we wanted to share two upcoming litters with you.

We will NOT be processing applications until after their upcoming spay/neuter surgery.

The Kray twins - Ronnie and Reggie. They are handsome tuxedo boys!

The T.V. hosts litter. The girls are Springer and Judge Judy, and the boys are Maury, Mathis, and Dr. Phil!

These kittens will all be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm treated. We will do an updated post with more about them and their personalities closer to the time they will be ready for adoption. But for now enjoy these cute pictures!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! We recently put out a post requesting kitten supplies for the 11 litters in our care!

Our amazing supporters showed out! We got a mix of a little bit of everything we requested! Puppy pads and food were first and foremost and you guys delivered!

We also got an amazing assortment of toys, treats, and other items to help keep these sweet babies happy and healthy!

Thank you every single person who helps keep G.A.I.N.'s mission going! We couldn't do it without our supporters!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers!! Are you ready to see one of the rarest types of cats we have seen in years?!

This is a cat with a coat color called dilute tortoiseshell. The cool thing about tortoiseshell and calico cats is that they have a genetic makeup of XX chromosomes. In other words they're female.

However, in about 1 in 3,000 tortoiseshell/calico cats, there can be a rare genetic anomaly where the cat gets two copies of the X chromosome AND a copy of the Y chromosome.

In humans this is called Klinefelter syndrome. The really cool thing about this is genetically they are colored like a female, but physically they present as a male.

So this MALE is the color that is 99.9% of the time associated with immediately thinking the cat is female.

Hello G.A.I.N. followers!!

On Wednesday this week we had the MSU Mobile Veterinary Unit at the G.A.I.N. building! This is the first of a few special TNR days we're collaborating with them to do this year!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to get more cats spayed and neutered! And we thank everyone who worked hard to make it a great day!
