GAIN Michigan G.A.I.N. (Gratiot Animals In Need) provides opportunities for low income pet owners for cat & dog veterinary visits & spay/neuter. We can help!

(Gratiot Animals In Need) promotes spay and neuter education and offers financial assistance and access to low or no cost spay and neuter services for pets in Gratiot County, Michigan. To promote pet retention and reduce the number of pets surrendered to the local shelter, G.A.I.N. will assist pet owners with:
basic veterinary care
food assistance
proper outdoor sheltering
fostering a pet
rehomin

G.A.I.N. can also help keep your barn cat or community cat populations in check via its Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR) program. Need a barn cat to keep vermin in check? Hello G.A.I.N. followers! Today we were able to help 3 year old Slim Shady, who was fortunate enough to be rescued by his family as a kitten from a rough situation in which his sibling didn’t make it.

Yesterday, Slim managed to get an ice fishing hook stuck in his paw!

His mom was worried with funds being tight for Christmas and vets being closed. Fortunately she was able to find an open vet today that was willing to help her little guy!

G.A.I.N. was able to step in and help cover a part of the bill so Slim Shady and his family could enjoy a Merry Christmas together.

We love being able to help provide for our community when we're able. And our amazing group of supporters make it possible!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! We have great news to share! Twiggy and Jethro went to their Fur-Ever homes yesterday. And they went together!

There are currently 7 kittens hanging out at Feeders waiting for adoption. Stop in today and meet them!

Lisa is about 4 months old and is a very sweet, adventurous, and playful girl. She loves to play with her friends AND with a bunch of toys!! She is both gentle and loving when comfortable and worn out!

Lover boy Jed! He gives kisses and likes to get bum scratches. He is a very sweet and loving lap cat. Jed is mellow and easy going.

Doris, 3.5 months old is a character! Quite confident and very playful! She loves to crawl unto your shoulder and your back (if you are leaning over!!). She is a joy and full of fun and love! She get’s along well with others.

Travis, 4.5 month old tiger and white male. He is very sweet and playful. He actually comes when called! He is calm, cute, and cuddly. The whole package!!

Granny is a 3.5 month old female. She is a very muted tiger color which we think is gorgeous! She will climb right up on your shoulder. She is very easy going, loving, and playful.

Oliver is a 4 month old black male. He is a calm and comfortable guy and wants to play with all of his friends!! After romping around he loves to snuggle up and get lovins!!

Wendy is a 4 month tiger female. She may hover back a bit to start, (she likes to scope out things) but when she gets to know her people she’ll come right up and crawl all over you. She is good with other cats/kittens and with calm dogs with a slow introduction.

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! We have an update for you on Wanda the little girl that needed her eye removed from giving Tuesday!

Wanda had her eye surgery a few days ago and she did wonderfully! She is her normal sweet self (purring like crazy) and will be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks after stitches are removed as long as everything goes as expected with recovery!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! Today and tomorrow are the last two days of the BISSELL Pet Foundation event! Thanks to Cathy Bissell all adoption fees are reduced during the event!

Yesterday two kittens found their Fur-Ever homes! Uncle Joe and Twilla were both adopted!

We are so thankful to every adopter that gives a loving home to these cats and kittens that we work so hard to save. As well as everyone else that has their part in it! It takes a village and we have a great one!

We will continue to have kittens available at Feeders for the remainder of the event. Check out a post later today for the most currently available!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! We are halfway through the BISSELL Pet Foundation event! Thanks to Cathy Bissell all adoption fees are reduced during the event!

Ava has been adopted from Feeders! Thank you to her new family for choosing her!

We have some amazing kittens waiting for homes at Feeders in Mt. Pleasant Michigan check out yesterday's post for their info or stop into Feeders!

We also have several wonderful kittens currently in foster care waiting for homes. If you're interested in meeting one or even a few of the kittens that we are about to share, please fill out an application online at gainmichigan.org.

Granny is a 3.5 month old female. She is a very muted tiger color which we think is gorgeous! She will climb right up on your shoulder. She is very easy going, loving, and playful.

Uncle Joe is a 3.5 month old little orange and white dude. He is a little uncertain with new situations, but he is very sweet, loving, and playful once he is comfortable! And that doesn’t take long!

Twila is a 4.5 month old torbie female. She loves to get loves!! She will sidle right up to you for some attention. She is very playful and good with other animals.

Carl is a handsome gray and white 3.5 month old male. He started out pretty afraid, but once he learned to trust he came out of his shell big time. He still needs to adjust to new situations, but when he feels secure he is all about playing (especially with his brother, Clark) and loving. He loves belly rubs! Good with other cats/kittens and calm dogs with slow intro.

Clark is quite shy with new people. He is comfortable around other cats (especially his brother Carl) and calm dogs. He is still learning to trust but he is getting there. Clark is a beautiful and sweet boy. He just needs someone with a patient hand to show him the good things!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! We have two adoptions to share from the BISSELL Pet Foundation event!

The ever handsome Mr. Haney has left the building!! He was followed the next day by little Miss Elly May! Thank you to every amazing adopter that makes it possible to save these kitties!

Next up are the final two C-section kittens! Eunice and Edith are very playful, confident, and active! They have grown up to be sweet and well rounded kittens! Both of these sweet girls are solid black!

Hello G.A.I.N. followers! It is the 3rd day of the BISSELL Pet Foundation event! Thanks to Cathy Bissell all adoption fees are reduced during the event! We have some cute little faces waiting for homes at Feeders in Mt. Pleasant Michigan!

To start off we have Ingwer (German for ginger). He is a dear little orange boy who is a little shy. He likes a calm setting where he can relax and warm up to you. Ingwer would prefer a home with no dogs. Once he’s comfortable he is very cuddly, loving and playful.

Mr. Haney! He is a gorgeous dark gray boy. He is sweet, gentle, and playful. Mr. Haney loves to explore and chase anything that moves fast! Like feathered wand toys! He is also a jumper! He loves to leap and bounce.

Next up are the final two C-section kittens! Eunice and Edith are very playful, confident, and active! They have grown up to be sweet and well rounded kittens! Both of these sweet girls are solid black!

Scoop is tabby and white with super thick hair. She is the sweetest girl who takes playtime seriously! Her next favorite thing after attacking innocent catnip mice is chowing down on some squeeze up treats! Scoop was the most outgoing and bravest of her litter! She will silently meow at you until she gets what she wants.
