Let’s get you caught up……..

The last of the Lisianthus has come and gone, hopefully another wave will hit in late September🤞🏼
The sweetest person (aka Laura Harris-Garrett) brought by a flower basket that she found thrifting so of course we had to have a photo shoot!

My vertical growing obsession is strong and putting on a great display 😍. I grew three kinds of butterfly pea flowers this season and wow the baby blue color is winning me over!

Dahlias are hitting their stride and roses are making a comeback, my fruit game is still going strong as are the loofahs and birdhouse gourds….yes 💪🏼. Monarch butterfly in the orange zinnia patch will make your heart flutter 😍😍😍

Cats in pictures will steal the show every time! Celosia is so darn beautiful and will forever have a place in my garden. Literally…..thousand and thousands of tiny seeds everywhere, I always have surprise pop ups every season!

So many weeds, the piles can literally swallow me whole. Wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow, I’m at my whits end, they win 👎🏼

Bumble Bee butts will make your day and bright colored fruits and veggies keep us happy as do the eggs that the hens started laying whoop whoop 🙌🏼.
And now you are all caught up for the season. It’s been an interesting one, and it’s not even over yet. Wonder what else this season will bring 🤷‍♀️. Bring it, I’m not afraid. Well maybe…..I am.

When I very first started on this flower journey, I thought, yes…this is the end all be all of where I am supposed to be in life.

And then something funny happens.

There is a realization that more is still unfolding. Something beautiful that requires time, and patience, and virtue like no other to make it all come together. The reality of a therapy farm is closer than ever as we shift from dream to reality.
Please celebrate with us as we become official through state and federal levels….yes that’s right, Haystacks of Hope is officially a viable 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and the gifting of our first donation from Laura’s sweet parents. Next up, logo design, website building, and the search for property to slap this big ol’ dream on 🤗

Two businesses that come together who just so happen to have the word heart and soul in their name……….no coincidence!

A big thank you to Jamie of SoCal Soul for providing this incredible plant shop in Edwardsville as the backdrop for tonight’s event. We got to witness an amazing group of people just having fun and loving and appreciating everything around them.

A few updates……
Unfortunately I just can’t get this insurance thing to work out for you all coming onto my property for u-picks. So I’m pivoting……

Instead, let me begin to offer you Bloom Buckets. This is will be a selection of flowers cut for you to grab and go. You can take the bucket home and uncage your inner florist! Yep, you got that right…you have free will over how to arrange and group your flowers into the most beautiful, unique arrangement. Each bucket will give you enough flowers equal to one large arrangement…or 3 small arrangements for gifting…..or whatever your heart desires, that’s the beauty of this offering!

The veggie patch is getting out of control in a good way.

One part of the herb patch is producing like crazy with soil that has been enriched for two years….while the other 4 beds are new this year and are stunted and sad. (A result of not researching thoroughly my source of soil before buying) It is ALWAYS important to get good quality soil to start with and continue to build from there. Curse my panicked shortcuts….😞

What a humbling Spring. By now I’m usually swimming in flowers.

Enough to make graduation bouquets and end of the year teacher bouquets….but nothing this year. The constant wind, rain, and critters in the garden have kept me at bay in rejoicing in the abundance of flowers. I still have some to show off of course, but nowhere near normal. Yet another lesson in humility with Mother Nature as I strecth to be at peace with it all. It’s there, just masked a bit by the pressures of life.

My attention has been pulled in all different directions this season and it always amazes me the people that are willing to jump in and help when I finally shout out that I can’t do it all on my own. It reminds me time and time again that it’s ok to ask for help….gulp….even though that is the hardest thing for me to do!

Summer is coming, and it’s going to be a good one. I’m working on the aesthetics of the garden so that you can come out and enjoy picking flowers and taking the most epic pictures among them. Can’t wait to announce the dates for some u-pick events 🤗

And the silver lining to this all….even though some parts have been hard, I am finally reaping the results of a few years of hard work on getting some plants to start producing the fruits of labor! Grapes, raspberries, one peony plant that I let bloom….shhhhh don’t tell the other 50 plants that they still have to wait one more year!

It’s all there, I just have to slow down and look around and be utterly grateful for it all ♥️
