🌟 🌟
Happy Saturday! As we head into the last days of the year, we would like to spotlight these 3 special friends who are full of love and wishing for a new home for the New Year!
😻First, say hello to Josie! Josie is a beautiful girl of 1 year and 5 months who has been here at FCAR since June waiting for her new best friend to come find her!
This little girl is curious and very attentive of her surroundings! Just check out those wide eyes!
She enjoys human attention and is often found asking those passing by her kennel to stop and chat with her! She is an affectionate girl who loves to be held, give face rubs, and share affection in general with her favorite humans! Josie would make a lovely companion for someone who would love a somewhat calmer, loving young cat in their lives!
Since joining us, Josie has been diagnosed with Feline Herpes Virus (aka feline viral rhinotracheitis or FVR).
What does this mean? FVR is a virus many cats are exposed to that can lead to symptoms such as upper respiratory/ eye problems.
Don't let that scare you. While it is suggested that they not live with cats that are not also FVR+, with proper nutrition, an indoor lifestyle, and regular vet checkups cats with FVR can live long, happy lives!
For more information on this we encourage you to check out this link: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/.../respiratory-infections and of course consult your veterinarian.

🐶Next we have this delightful bonded duo, Cruise and Sassy!
Cruise is a 7-year, 10-month-old male Schnauzer who is here with his "big sister" Sassy, with whom he has an incredible bond!
Cruise is a very outgoing, curious boy who can be a bit of a "busy body"! He just loves to know what is going on and he puts this to good use by being the most supportive little "brother" to Sassy, who relies on his eyes and guidance since she has been diagnosed with inoperable cataracts, which does impact her vision. Cruise takes his role as her helper and "brother" quite seriously and it's truly an incredible thing to see!

And sweet Sassy, a sweet and resilient Miniature Schnauzer who is almost 9 years old. She has spent her life in a loving home alongside her “little brother,” Cruise, and the two have formed an inseparable bond. They are truly a team and thrive best together.
✨ Health & Care
Sassy recently completed dental surgery, so her smile is healthy and ready for the future.
She has been diagnosed with non-operable cataracts, which affect her vision.
💖 Her Special Bond with Cruise What makes Sassy’s story extra special is her partnership with Cruise. He has taken on the role of her guide, helping her navigate when she gets turned around. Their connection is heartwarming—Cruise is her hero, and together they make the perfect pair.
🌟 Sassy and Cruise are looking for a home where they can stay together, surrounded by love and patience. With her gentle nature and his loyal guidance, they will bring double the joy to the right family.

If you have any questions or think any of these sweet friends would be the perfect fit for your home, we encourage you to reach out to us at [email protected] or apply today!

If you are not looking to add to your home at this time, but would like to share these friends, or make a donation in their honor to help support the animals in our care, that is also always so appreciated.

As people get ready to celebrate the New Year, we wanted to share some tips for fireworks safety in case you are celebrating near or with a display!
There are also some other great tips to help keep your pets safe and happy during the festivities here: https://www.aspca.org/news/ring-pet-safe-new-year-these-expert-safety-tips

Big celebrations and fireworks displays do often result in more reports of pets that go missing. If you are thinking about getting your cat or dog microchipped, that is a service we offer during open hours, please just reach out to us at [email protected] with when you would like to come by!
If your pet is already microchipped, it is a wonderful time to double check that your information is up to date with the microchip registry.
