💡 Training Tip Tuesday: Build Before You Test

It's tempting to see if your dog can perform a command in a busy park, around other dogs, or with lots of distractions, but have you built the foundation first?

Success doesn't happen by accident.

Before increasing the challenge, ask yourself:
🐾 Does my dog understand the behavior at home?
🐾 Have we practiced in different environments?
🐾 Have I gradually added distractions?
🐾 Can my dog succeed before I raise the difficulty?

Testing a behavior before it's fully trained often leads to frustration, for both you and your dog.

Instead, focus on building confidence through repetition, consistency, and gradual progression. When your dog has a solid foundation, they'll be much more likely to succeed when it matters most.

Remember: Don't test what you haven't trained. Build first, then challenge. 🐶👏
