Rainy 🪻

We are absolutely delighted to welcome back one of our extended CD Kennels family members—Vince, Maria, and their son, Brandon! ❤️

Their journey with us began back in 2025, when they instantly fell in love with Stormy (AKA Tulip 🌷). Today, their family has grown once again, and we couldn’t be happier to be a part of it!

Not only does Rainy have a fur-sister waiting for her at their Illinois home 🏡, but she also has a brother, Ice, eagerly awaiting her arrival ❄️

We feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this wonderful family once again. There is no doubt that Rainy is going to be deeply loved and in the very best of hands 💞

There’s something truly special about seeing our past families return to CD Kennels when they’re ready to add another fur-kid to their lives. It’s one of the greatest compliments we could receive and a reminder that we must be doing something right! 😊

Thank you again!!

Jazz 🎶

We are excited to share that the first of our three little ones, Jazz, met his fur-ever family 💞 last night!

Please join us in congratulating Bob and Marjorie, who traveled all the way from Toronto, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 to welcome Jazzy into their family.

Their dedication to making this journey—more than 1,600 miles round trip—is a wonderful testament to the love and commitment they already have for this special little boy 🐻‍❄️

We are incredibly grateful they chose CD Kennels and entrusted us with helping them find the newest member of their family. We look forward to watching Jazzy grow and thrive in his new home 🏡 We know he'll have a lifetime of adventures ahead of him 🛣

Congratulations, Bob & Marjorie, and welcome to the CD Kennels family!

It was a pleasure meeting you two ❣️ Safe travels!! Thank you again!!

🇺🇲 Our Little Firecracker Trio

Last week, Rainy, Jazz, and Peaches made a visit to Mobile Veterinary Practice (MVP). We were sorry to miss Dr. Dan, who was out of the office, but we had the pleasure of working with Dr. Paul. He helps out at the clinic, among his many other contributions, and his years of experience, longevity in veterinary medicine, and extensive knowledge make him a valuable asset to the practice. We were grateful for the wonderful care and expertise he provided

During Wisconsin's cold winters, he practices veterinarian services in Mexico 🇲🇽 How lucky is he, warm weather and that authentic Mexican food. Yum yum 😋

We are happy 🤩 to report that our trio passed with flying colors. At their 8-week puppy examination, Dr. Paul performed a comprehensive head-to-tail physical exam to assess overall health, check for congenital defects, and administer first-round of age-appropriate vaccinations.

Things that are examined:
✨️ Eyes
✨️ Ears
✨️ Mouth & Teeth
✨️ Nose
✨️ Heart & Lungs
✨️ Abdominal
✨️ Lymph nodes & Joints
✨️ Skin & Coat
✨️ Genitalia and Rear
✨️ Vitals

A special thank you to Dr. Paul for doing us the honor of posing 📸 with Myka's trio. We are truly blessed having the opportunity to work with the amazing MVP staff.

🇺🇸 Our Little Firecracker Trio

Every moment we have the privilege of watching each puppy's personality emerge. We love giving our puppies opportunities to safely explore, interact, and experience new sights, sounds, and textures. These early experiences help them grow into happy, confident companions while allowing them to simply enjoy being puppies. ❤️

While pure white is the preferred and most common coat color, the American Eskimo breed standard also allows a subtle biscuit cream shading

✨️This soft coloring can look like a very pale ivory, cream, or lightly toasted “biscuit” hue. It’s often most noticeable around the ears, along the back, or on the outer portions of their thick, fluffy double coat.

✨️Even with those creamy tones, a beautiful Eskie should still have those distinctive dark points—which include the dark nose, lips, and eye rims 🖤

✨️So if your Eskie has a little biscuit cream coloring, don’t worry—it’s part of the natural beauty and accepted by major kennel clubs like AKC and UKC

🇺🇸 Our Little Firecracker Trio

We are over half-way before these three meet their furever families. We want to ensure our families are equipped with all essential items so they are prepared to welcome their new addition into their home. We provide recommendations for our meal plan, education on a collar vs a harness, and our go-to for that special stage "teething" 😬

Those little wing-like flaps on the outside of a dog’s nose are called alar wings, or nasal wings.

✨ They help control airflow by allowing dogs to flare and contract their nostrils

✨ When a dog inhales, air enters through the front of the nostrils. When they exhale, that air is directed sideways through those tiny openings along the sides of the nose

✨ This unique airflow helps keep exhaled air from disturbing surrounding scents and allows dogs to compare scent information between their nostrils—helping them pinpoint exactly where a smell is coming from!

UPDATE: 8/5

We received word from Theresa that she and BooBoo were allowed to return home yesterday. This is wonderful news, and we're incredibly grateful they are safe.

While they're back home, the danger hasn't completely passed. The wildfires are not yet fully contained, so everyone is hoping the winds remain calm to prevent the flames from spreading. Smoke continues to linger in the air, so Theresa and BooBoo are staying indoors as much as possible to avoid the poor air quality.

Please continue to keep them, their community, and all of the firefighters and first responders in your thoughts as they work to bring these devastating wildfires under control. 🙏❤️

Carlos and I received word that one of our CD Kennels extended family members, Theresa, and her sweet Eskie, BooBoo, were instructed to evacuate their home in Spokane, Washington, on Saturday as fast-moving wildfires approached their area. At this time, the fires are reportedly holding about three miles from their home.

The situation is heartbreaking. Thousands of families have been forced to evacuate as crews battle three major wildfires in Spokane County. Officials report that at least 600 structures have been destroyed, many more remain at risk, and widespread power outages have affected thousands of residents.

Please keep Theresa Dionne and BooBoo (AKA Freedom)in your thoughts and prayers as they face the uncertainty of these devastating fires. We are hoping for their safety and for the protection of their home, along with everyone else affected. ❤️🙏🐾

The Transitional phase...
At 4 weeks old, the puppies are becoming much steadier on their feet as their eyes and ears are now fully open. They're pottying on their own (the fun begins 💩), exploring with confidence, and their little personalities are starting to shine.

We will see playful wrestling, tiny growls, wagging tails, and lots of curiosity. Through play, they're learning important social skills, boundaries, and independence—one adventure at a time!

Did you know...

✨️ Despite their name, the American Eskimo Dog didn't originate in Alaska. The breed traces its roots back to the German Spitz, brought to the United States by German immigrants in the late 1800s.

✨️During World War I, the breed's name was changed to the American Eskimo Dog in 1917. The name change was primarily due to the war and Americans rejecting of anything pertaining to Germany.

✨️What is unique about an Eskie...is their ability to adapt.
Their primarily function was an all-around farm dog in the 🐑 19th century, herding livestock, hunting small vermin, and acting as territorial watchdogs.

✨️Their intelligence made them famous as circus performers in the 1920s and 1930s. Largely due to its agility, intelligence, and striking white coat that stood out under big-top 🎪 spotlights. The Most Famous American Eskimo is Stout's Pal Pierre. He achieved global fame as the first dog to successfully walk a tightrope on his hind legs while performing with Barnum & Bailey Circus

🇺🇸 Our Little Firecracker Trio

Three Weeks Old...and Growing Every Day! What an exciting milestone in a puppy's development!

At this stage what can you expect:

✨️They develop more confidence as they become stronger when walking on all fours, exploring their surroundings.

✨️ Their eyes 👀 and ears are fully open, allowing them to respond to sights and sounds

✨️Tiny baby teeth 🦷 emerge

✨️Playtime starts among their littermates 🐾

✨️ Their individual personalities begin to shine 🌞 making it easier to see each puppy's unique temperament

✨️The weaning process is just around the corner, though Mom 🐻‍❄️ is still providing the majority of their nutrition.

✨️These early weeks are so important. Every new sound 🎶 texture, and gentle interaction helps lay the foundation for a confident, well-adjusted companion.

Watching these little milestones unfold never gets old, and we love sharing each step of their journey with our followers ❣️

🇺🇸 Our Little Firecracker Trio

These gorgeous puppies are a wonderful representation of the American Eskimo Dog breed. Did you know that American Eskimos come in three recognized sizes?

🐾 Toy: 9–12 inches tall
6–10 pounds
🐾 Miniature: 12–15 inches tall 10–20 pounds
🐾 Standard: 15–19 inches tall 25–35 pounds

So, what about dogs that fall between the miniature and standard weight ranges?

The answer is simple—American Eskimo Dogs are classified by their height at the withers, not by their weight.

How do you measure your dog's size?
Measure your dog at the withers, which is the highest point of the shoulders, located just behind the neck. While your dog is standing naturally on a level surface, use a tape measure to measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder blades. This measurement determines whether your Eskie is a Toy, Miniature, or Standard.

While we can provide an estimate, we can never guarantee the exact adult weight of any puppy. Genetics, nutrition, environment, and individual growth patterns all play a role in how a puppy develops.

Our goal has never been to produce puppies that fit a specific number on the scale. Our goal is to raise happy, healthy, well-socialized, and well-mannered American Eskimo Dogs that become cherished members of their families.

If you're searching for the "perfect" puppy, our philosophy is: every puppy is perfect in their own unique way. We believe the right puppy isn't defined by a number—it's defined by the lifelong bond you build together. ❤️🐾

Since these three precious pups made their arrival just before Independence Day, we thought it was only fitting to give them honorary patriotic names in celebration of the Fourth of July! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
