This week's Fan Friday comes from Nathan — some of you know him as the winner of our free European mount giveaway. Here's his story.
"I got this Merriam back in May 2021 out in Nebraska. Me and one of my good buddies were hunting public land and grinding for days with nothing to show for it. We got to talking with a landowner and got permission on a private piece that looked promising for birds.
Sitting out there we watched a herd of cow elk feeding in the field — cool to watch since you don't see elk here in Minnesota. Later that day a couple Merriam toms came into the field, so we crawled a decent ways to get on them. I took a long poke of a shot and got my first Merriam.
That hunt sticks with me because it was my first time hunting out of state. The terrain, the elevation — all of it was different and challenging, but I enjoyed every day of it. Hard to beat hunting public land out west with a great friend.”
