Freya was all smiles at her recent recheck! 🐾💙

Just last month, Freya spent several days hospitalized in our ICU after developing dangerously low blood protein levels, known as hypoalbuminemia. Her albumin became so low that she developed significant swelling throughout her body and fluid accumulation in her abdomen.

Thankfully, Freya is now on the road to recovery! We’re continuing to manage the underlying intestinal disease that contributed to her condition, and we were very happy to see how well she was doing at her latest visit.

From Injury to Recovery — Just 8 Weeks Later

When this patient was brought to Catskill Veterinary Services, her family had returned home to find her suddenly unable to bear weight on her right hind leg.

Diagnostic radiographs revealed a growth plate (physeal) fracture of the distal femur—an injury that requires prompt surgical intervention to restore normal limb alignment and minimize the risk of long-term complications.

Our surgical team performed fracture reduction and stabilization using orthopedic pin fixation to precisely realign the bone and protect the growth plate during healing.

Just 8 weeks later, follow-up radiographs demonstrate excellent healing and stable fixation. More importantly, our patient is back to using her leg comfortably and continuing her return to normal activity.
