Another batch of handmade nests were delivered yesterday. So grateful for these incredible people! ❤️ Just in time for the arrival of these two new babies today.

These two were in a nest that was pulled out of the soffit during construction. The finders tried reuniting with mom, but weren't successful. The finders drove all the way from Walworth (~45 minutes) to bring me these babies. Thank you for caring and helping!

Beth has been such a wonderful friend and mentor to me as I've been taking more and more birds this season. She was happy to take this little cardinal baby from me, and I love knowing it is in such caring hands. Check out her brand new page. She does such amazing work. Thank you for everything you do, Beth!

This little cardinal arrived yesterday morning. Cardinals are one of my favorite birds to raise. They are so sweet, plus it is fun to watch them change color if they are males. I hope this baby is a male, so I can share the color changing photos with you all. This is our 5th baby cardinal this season.

Yesterday was tough. I don't like posting the sad stuff, but this is part of rehab. We aren't miracle workers, and we can't save everything. We try, but sometimes the most humane thing a rehabber can do is ease the suffering and let the animal pass surrounded by love.

Yesterday, I received a call for a bird that had been left injured outside for two days and was being kicked by kids. The bird was supposed to go to another rehabber in Honeoye, but we decided to route it here to get eyes on it ASAP. A lovely woman and her daughter brought me the bird. I went to get it set up so I could call Fairport Animal Hospital, and it flapped its wings, called out, and took its last breath. 💔 It's heartbreaking when we are too late or the injuries are just too extensive, and it's even more gut-wrenching when you have finders hoping you can save the bird and you can't. I'm sorry I couldn't save you. I'm sorry those kids didn't realize that every life is precious. Fly free, sweet Kylee.

But then you take your next call, and a lovely finder brings you the tiniest, cutest little bird you've ever seen and you try and you hope. I've never rehabbed a bird this tiny, but the finder did everything right and this cutie made it through the night, so here's hoping this one is a fighter! ❤️

Nonna is one of my best friends and one of my biggest supporters. Not only does she teach a class to help people learn to crochet bird nests which she donates to me and other rehabbers, she makes them herself. She brought me these 3 lovely nests today, drove all the way home, and then turned right back around to transport this precious new baby from Fairport Animal Hospital. Welcome little one, and thank you so much for your support, Nonna! ❤️

This little guy came in at dinner time last night in rough shape. I was so happy to see him alive this morning. He has just started formula and seems to be perking up a bit. Hoping he continues to improve so he can join my motley baby crew tonight. 🤞 Come on little buddy! ❤️

Name suggestions welcome!

More babies - probably the youngest I've ever taken in. I was so happy to see their gaping mouths this morning. ❤️

Then there is the Sesame Street crew, and they have reached a whole new level of fun and craziness - flying up to see me every time I open the enclosure. 🤦‍♀️
