Look at Subi go!! This girl has so much energy and she loves parkour! You wouldn’t believe what she can jump on! She’s a compact girl at 50lbs (roughly 7 mos old) already fixed/chipped/vaccinated and ready to find her adventurous new home! Oakville, WA misspitsrescue.org

Adopt Subi! Smart, athletic, high energy girl! Perfect for PNW adventures! Approx 6 mos, good with dogs, cats and people but needs a chance to sus everyone out first. She is thought to be shepherd/husky blend and those GSD genes are strong! Jumps, barks, parkours off furniture all the puppy exuberance you could want but eager to learn too. Past the peeing every 5 minutes stage but still plenty of pup! If you are looking for an outdoor adventure buddy willing to hike, run, splash through muddy water, Subi could be for you!

Spayed, microchipped and all puppy vaccines done. She’s ready to go!

Thank you volunteers! Cheryl was out Thursday with a load a feed, Amy was out yesterday cleaning stalls and waters and Helen picked up cardboard and dropped off some donations. I was able to get work in the pig pasture done and then hay arrived later.

Everyone is pretty happy, especially with all the hay.

We got another load of hay this morning too 😮‍💨

We have been doing a lot of platform training the last few months. We have incorporated cooperative care in that as well. It gives a clear choice for them and makes handling easier and less stressful. They know standing on the platform = good stuff. Stepping off is their choice but does not = food. While there I can look at eyes, ears, teeth, feet etc. If they opt out, we work on it another time.

On Monday, Yancy will see our new vet for the first time. I will bring a platform and his emotional support Jet. I think we will have a lower stress visit and can’t wait to see how he does.

Yesterday we practiced getting in the car. He did great!

For those that may not recall, Yancy and his siblings came to us two years ago. They were around 4 months old and found on a road in Lewis Co. They were scared and unsocialized. Two of them had to be trapped. Much work has gone into all three (brother and sister were adopted) but the lack of early socialization remains. Yancy has made huge strides, going from an untouchable adolescent into a functional adult. He will likely never be a love and get touched by everyone dog but that’s ok. Giving him a choice, autonomy, has really helped him. I can’t wait to see him rock this appointment!

If he doesn’t though, that’s ok too. Kitchen work is much different than at the vet work. Set your pups up to succeed but acknowledge when it’s time to do more work too.

Find a certified fear free trainer that can help you learn how to help your dog. Training that can help you modify behaviors and emotional responses. Help your dog feel better!

Find a vet knowledgeable in dog body language and behavior, who is willing to go slow and acknowledge your dog’s emotional well being.
