MEET BLANCHE!

Blanche is a beautiful 1-2-year-old girl who needs a special adopter. Blanche came to us as a feral kitty but she has really come around a lot socially in foster. She needs a patient adopter who will continue to let her grow and trust.

But even more than that, Blanche has been confirmed to be FELV-positive, which means she has Feline Leukemia. Because of this, she cannot be returned outside, but she also cannot be in a home with non-FELV kitties, especially those not vaccinated specifically for FELV.

FELV+ cats can live healthy lives for several years, some for many years! The disease is contagious but they can be in a home with another FELV+ cat (and Blanche would love a playmate) or as an only cat.

Her foster writes this about her:

“Hi my name is Blanche. And I am a loving and friendly female kitty! I had it hard on the streets and then was rescued! I am so happy! I love attention! I love toys! I love being petted! I need a good home, and I have a big problem.

See, I have Feline Leukemia. This means I can only be adopted to people that have another FELV+ cat or to people who have no cats. Felv is highly contagious to other cats.

I am healthy other than my FELV+ status. I want a place where I can run around and get snuggles and pets and be my sweet self. Can you help me please? “

MEET BEAUTIFUL SAMPSON!

Sampson is a long-haired all-black one-year-old who loves people - he is a true lap cat!

Sampson was adopted from us as a kitten but as he has grown, he has stopped getting along with the senior kitty in his home, who is very fragile. The family vet has recommended that he be re-homed where he can be an only-cat and have human family who will enjoy giving him lots of cuddles and playtime. He is good with older children, but has not been tested with dogs.

Could you be Sampson’s forever people? He would like to go home as soon as possible!

Sampson is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, FIV/FELV negative and microchipped.

We are also experiencing slow adoptions, and returns and surrenders of pets from previously-established adoptive homes. We have also taken on several medically-needy cats that have drained our rescue and personal funds.

Please do all you can to help people keep their companion animals and support rescues and shelters in your area if you can.

Like other rescues and shelters we are always in need of donations - food or money - and we are grateful to every supporter of every kind.

This seems to be a particularly tough year with folks giving up their animals, as well as delaying or avoiding adopting.

We have received a huge influx of people wanting to surrender cats and dogs, and we do not have any space.

Adoptions are at an all-time low, not only for our shelter but also for almost all shelters and rescues, meaning we also don’t have partners to take in animals to help us create space.

If you need assistance keeping your pet, we will help where we can or point you to resources. If you are unable to keep your pet, please seek alternatives.

We have also taken in several animals requiring extensive veterinary care. Every donation goes into our medical funds, enabling us to provide life-saving care.
