Today I had a very good conversation with Dr pittman about Sonia‘s quality of care and quality of life. He really feels that having the tendon surgery would give her so much better quality of life. I’ve included his statement below regarding his medical opinion. I would really like to complete the fundraisers that we currently have going and then try to fundraisers for her to get the surgery done. I do think she deserves to have a good quality of life and be comfortable. I feel so sad for her that her previous owners didn’t do anything to improve her condition. But she’s with us now and we are all responsible for her and we can all make this decision together as a Team.

Dr. Pittman: Sonya has been able to move better with raised heel and toe extensions but palmar angle has not relaxed. Wall and sole are growing well. Discussed that a deep flexor tentomy and realignment shoein are the best approach to improve quality of life and simplfy the shoeing management for the long term. Discussed a quote of $5500 to $7500 for surgery, casting, shoeing and 30-45 days in the hospital. Today we opted to reset shoes and give her another cycle. This will give Diana more time to fundraise and see if it is something they can work out financially.

Oh my gosh everybody you’re not gonna believe this. Misty got her own family today. It was a match made in heaven, and she literally tried to follow them out of her pen. She was ready to go home right that minute. It was love at first sight for sure for Misty.

We still have to get pictures of their property, the application and the contract and the adoption fee, but I’m confident that this family has completely committed to bringing Misty into their family ❤️
