CowHorse Full Contact Podcast
Interview with Doug Williamson – Part 2
November 2021
In this excerpt from CowHorse Full Contact podcast, listen to the legend himself Doug Williamson.
Russell Dilday and Chris Dawson talk with one of the greatest in the Cow horse industry. He was a mentor, friend and a hero to many. They started talking about the horses at the 2021 Snaffle Bit Futurity. We hear Doug mention who he thought was one of the best horses in the barn, a red roan stallion shown by Jordan Williams. They did not make the finals that year. But the Bond's Ranch stallion Jaymes Bond and Jordan Williams have gone on to win numerous titles and amass more than $130,000 in LTE.
We also hear Doug compliment Jordan, saying “that guy is a pretty damn good hand”.
Fast Forward Four Years-
Jordan Williams wins the DW/77 Memorial Bridle on Hott and Juicy. Jaymes Bond may not have won. But in the picture below, he proudly wears it, honoring the late Doug Williamson.
Here is how much it meant to Jordan in his words.
“It was such a compliment to me that he said such nice things about the horse and about me. I’ve dreamed of winning that bridle and when I did, it was very special moment for me. I thought back to the podcast. I didn’t win the bridle on Jaymes Bond. But it’s such an honor for me to be able to ride him in it for Doug. He was an inspiration to me, along with many others. He helped pave the way and I’ll be forever grateful
Please enjoy this short clip and listen once again to Doug‘s wonderful voice.
We miss him every day.
