Update: You all have really shown up for Rooster, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for how many people came in to meet him! At this time, he has a medical foster but will still be on the hunt for his forever home when fully healed!
Rooster, our big goofy mascot, is undergoing a leg amputation and urgently needs a foster home lined up by June 4th.
This boy has stolen the hearts of everyone here at BrightSide and in our community. Since arriving, Rooster has been the face greeting guests at our gala, the therapy dog at our flash tattoo event, and our good luck charm at bingo this past Sunday. Everywhere he goes he’s a perfect gentleman, and people can’t help but to fall in love with him!
Rooster is the definition of a gentle giant. He’s done wonderfully with other dogs both big and small, absolutely adores his people, and is truly just the biggest baby. He’s easygoing, affectionate, and seems to really love kids too. Rooster was brought in as a livestock case so just no farm animals for this guy.
Rooster will really need a calm, comfortable place to recover after surgery. A home where someone can help make sure he’s taking his medications, healing properly, and getting all the rest. But don’t stress, we will handle all medical checks and support you every step of the way!
A shelter is simply no place for Rooster to recover from something this major. If you have ever been a medical foster or have even considered fostering, Rooster needs you! And if fostering turns into forever? We know Rooster certainly wouldn’t mind…
Stop by BrightSide to meet him or get a head start by signing up to foster at:

If you’re unable to foster but would still like to help Rooster, donations toward the cost of his surgery and recovery are deeply appreciated.
