We love our pups and owners! Borrowed this from another groomers page 😍
Just because animal professionals (this is specific to dog groomers) love dogs doesn't mean we don't need to be paid accordingly and treated with respect. We see your dog every 2 to 8 weeks, we touch every single part of their body. We learn to work with each dog as an individual, what they like, what they don't like, we love on them, we fight with them for the things they don't love but get it done with compassion and care to make it as easy for them as possible. They are washed/scrubbed from head to toes to tail, they are dried from head to toes to tail, brushed and combed head to toes to tail, hair is trimmed again from head to toes to tail (if necessary by breed needs). We see every scar, lumb, bump that are often over looked by owners, we tell you what we find and many times we catch a problem before it can become a bigger problem. We love your dogs like they are our dogs, we build a relationship with your dog similar to the way you do. We get bit, scratched, bruised. Our backs, shoulders, wrists, knees hurt often because of how we have to position ourselves in order for your dog to be comfortable. This is job is demanding physical, mentally and emotionally. We get the wonderful joys of working on puppies, teaching them how to be good for all that happens during a grooming appointment, we watch them grow up, eventually we see them grow old and again we accommodate their needs because how they move and what they were capable of changes over time and eventually we grieve their lose too. We do all these things day in and day out for years and years and as much as we love what we do, this is still our job, how we pay our bills. There are so many variables that go into this job but prices need to reflect the work we do and the time it takes or we won't be able to pay our business bills or personal bills. But it is a punch in gut when someone threatens to leave my shop over a $5 to $20 increase after taking the best care of someone's dogs for years and years, knowing no one else has ever worked on them and that we have gone above and beyond to do right by them. Think about going to your job and being asked to do more but not being compensated for it, you wouldn't like it. So put yourselves in our shoes for just minute, groom your dog yourself from start to finish and after you've done that then come back and talk to me about pricing.
