🚨 Dog Food Urgently Needed for Our Free Community Pet Pantry 🚨

Our free community pet pantry supports individuals and families in our community who may be facing a temporary hardship and need a little extra help feeding their pets.

This year alone, the pantry has provided our community with:
-2,186 lbs of dry dog food
-211 cans of dog food

Right now, our shelves are running critically low, and your donations make a direct impact: helping ensure pets in Shasta County continue to be fed and stay with their families.

🐾 Staff Pet Spotlight: Chief 🐾

Chief is a 14-year-old good boy and possibly the most loyal companion around. He would defend his family’s honor to the very end without a second thought.

That said… if he spots a deer while out on the boat, all bets are off. Chief has absolutely no hesitation about launching himself overboard in pursuit of his woodland rivals.

Loyal, brave, adventurous, and just a little bit chaotic — we wouldn’t have him any other way. ❤️

As the rains dry up and grasses begin to dry out, foxtail season is right around the corner here in Northern California.

Foxtails may look harmless, but these sharp grass awns can become lodged in a pet’s ears, eyes, nose, paws, skin, and even lungs — leading to painful infections, abscesses, and sometimes surgery to remove them. We see these injuries every year, and prevention is always easier (and cheaper!) than treatment.

After walks or outdoor play, be sure to:
• Check your pet’s paws, ears, eyes, and coat
• Avoid tall dry grasses when possible
• Keep hair trimmed between paw pads
• Watch for signs like sneezing, limping, head shaking, swelling, or excessive licking

🐾 Staff Pet Spotlight: James aka “The King of Side-Eye” 🐾

James is a 4-year-old sweet boy with a lot of personality. When he’s not judging everyone’s life choices with his signature side-eye, he can usually be found stealing and relocating his mom’s socks to mysterious locations around the house.

Despite his sweet nature, James is also an adventurer at heart — and 10 out of 10 would absolutely make a run for it if the screen door was left open.

We love you, James… even if we feel a little judged by you. ❤️

⭐ Staff Spotlight: Rian ⭐

Rian has been working in veterinary medicine for 15 years! She started her journey as an office assistant and worked her way up through the field over the years. One of the things she enjoys most about veterinary medicine is that it is always changing and growing — there’s never a dull day!

When she’s not at work, Rian enjoys reading and spending time outdoors.

We’re grateful to have her experience, dedication, and positive attitude as part of our team!

🐾 Staff Pet Spotlight: Meet Earl 🐾

Earl’s story started right here at Redding Veterinary Clinic back in August 2024, when he was discovered tucked under the recycling bin—just a tiny 4-week-old kitten.

Aside from a pesky foxtail in his eye, Earl was otherwise healthy and ready for a second chance. Fast forward to today, and he’s almost 2 years old, thriving, and living his very best cat life.

From humble beginnings to a spoiled, well-loved companion—Earl has definitely landed on his feet. We love him to pieces.
