Okay… you’ve had enough time.
What are your New Year’s resolutions?

Moon, our hospital cat, would like everyone to know that her goal is to gain one whole pound by the end of the year.
A perfect example of a SMART goal:
✔️ Specific – one pound
✔️ Measurable – the scale never lies
✔️ Attainable – especially with snacks
✔️ Relevant – Moon loves food
✔️ Time-bound – by year’s end

Now it’s your turn!
Tell us your New Year’s resolution in the comments
(Bonus points if it’s as well-planned as Moon’s.)

🐾 New Year’s Eve Safety Tips for Pets 🐾

Fireworks and loud celebrations are a well-documented source of stress and anxiety for many pets, particularly dogs. Taking proactive steps can significantly reduce fear-related behaviors and the risk of escape or injury.

Create a Safe, Quiet Space:
Provide a confined, comfortable area (such as a bathroom or interior room) stocked with bedding, water, familiar toys, and blankets. Keeping pets away from windows can reduce exposure to flashes and noise.

Reduce Auditory Stimulation:
Background noise from calming music, white noise, or television can help dampen sudden loud sounds and reduce startle responses.

Keep Pets Indoors and Secure:
Ensure all doors and windows are closed, and remind guests to be vigilant. Noise-related fear is a common cause of pets escaping during holidays.

Confirm Proper Identification:
Verify that pets are wearing current ID tags and that microchip information is accurate. Frightened animals may flee even familiar environments.

For Pets with Significant Noise Phobia:
If your pet has a history of severe anxiety, trembling, pacing, or destructive behavior during fireworks, schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Prescription medications and behavior-based treatment plans can be highly effective when used appropriately and in advance.

Planning ahead helps keep pets safe, calm, and comfortable as we ring in the New Year.

This holiday season, our team partnered with Northern Valley Catholic Social Services to adopt a local family. The trunk full of gifts in the photo will be delivered through NVCSS to a family they’ve matched us with.
