Pets and unattended Halloween candy can be a recipe for disaster…

Here is a good resource on how to determine if your pet consumed a dangerous level of chocolate. Artificially sweetened candies can also be highly toxic. However when in doubt, if your pet has consumed any Halloween candy, please contact your emergency vet!

It is National Veterinary Technician Week!

We’re so grateful to have Bailey on our team here at Whole Health Pet Center. Though we would love to have her around more often, beyond working part-time at our clinic, she finds her days jam packed with other things.

When she’s not here drawing blood or cleaning your pet’s teeth, she is the volunteer coordinator for World Wide Vets, CEO of an animal welfare copywriting agency, and has just launched her own nonprofit WildWorx Inc. - all about preservation and education!

Nobody wants a parasite… but we’re lucky that there’s a wide variety of preventive options out there to keep those nasty guys at bay!

Hopefully temps will be dropping soon enough to not worry about fleas and ticks, but we will always recommend your dog be on heartworm preventive year round.

Not only does heartworm preventive take care of those deadly (and very expensive to treat) worms, it also covers many intestinal parasites that your pet can pick up from the soil year round.

Dr Sandi and Brand are back from their long weekend of travels at the NADAC Championships.

Brand was the highest scoring hound and is certainly working his way up into being the most decorated employee at WHPC.

Dr Sandi spent Saturday chatting with college students at K State head hunting for the next vet at WHPC!

Don’t worry, she’s not planning to go anywhere for quite some time but wants to get a new face in to train towards taking over the clinic when she retires.

Dr Leonard is passionate about keeping the clinic privately owned so we can continue to service you without any sort of pressures from corporate.

One of our employees is looking to find a loving home for her 4.5 year old spayed kitty, Ptera.

She is very sweet and incredibly friendly but must be in a dog free home.

One of the most common orthopedic injuries we see in dogs is a CCL injury (like a human ACL)

Dogs can partially or fully tear this ligament in their knee even just doing every day activities.

This link provides some great information on what to look out for, but if your pet is ever limping, please bring them in!

While surgery is often the best choice, especially for full tears, we have a new laser protocol to treat the joint and hopefully help prevent future injuries to the other knee as well.
