Dogwood wants to know if someone will come and adopt him tomorrow...
We are opening from 12-3 Sunday August 30th with hopes that many kittens and cats find homes!!
Adult cats are $25 and kittens are $75! We'll have a bake sale and giveaways. Most importantly, we have over 100 cats and kittens like Dogwood who desperately need a home, and we desperately need the space to help more animals. All of our animals are up to date on vaccines, spayed / neutered, microchipped, and given flea and worm prevention. We hope to see you at Portage APL, 8122 Infirmary Road. Ravenna, Oh 44266.

This Sunday Aug 30th, from 12-3 we are opening for a Fabulous Feline Affair!
We have a multitude of kittens and cats here that desperately need a home. We'll be offering extremely low adoption fees, a bake sale, and give aways.
Adult cats will be $25 and kittens $75. All cats and kittens are spayed/ neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, negative for Felv / Fiv (unless noted), and given flea and worm prevention.
We even have four bunnies and some wonderful dogs that can also be adopted Sunday.
Here is a small sampling of all the cuteness!! We hope to see you Sunday!

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. A day to remember or four legged friends who are no longer with us, but always on our minds.

The phrase "Rainbow Bridge" was coined by then teenage poet, Edna Clyne-Rekhy in 1959. She was moved to write said poem after her Labrador Retriever named Major passed. While not her first dog, it was her soul dog. The first dog in her ownership. A life changing experience.

We send off our pets with the hope that this bridge will transport our beloveds to an afterlife fit for them. Whether it be lush green grass as described in the poem, or all of the wet food and treats they can eat, the Rainbow Bridge has brought comfort to many.

Today we send extra love to those who have lost their pets. We never want to say goodbye, but today we say goodbye to all of these animals and more.

Until we see you again. Forever yours.

***Foster Feature***

Tulip is currently in foster and available by appointment only.

Tulip arrived the beginning of April in respiratory distress. She gave birth to 7 beautiful babies the night before arriving in our care. Initially we thought it was related to labor but no other kittens were found in her abdomen. After lots of diagnostics, treatments, and vet visits, Tulip was treated for asthma. She is currently off all medications and doing well but could have flare up’s in the future.
Tulip is a shy gal around humans, but she loves cats! Her whole demeanor changes when she has the opportunity to interact with other cats. She’s quite playful and loves toys that make noise and especially loves wand toys. She has interacted with cats in her foster home ranging from around a year old to 12 years old and has gotten along well.
Her ideal home would include at least another cat and would be low traffic/quiet.
Due to overcrowding at the shelter and her shyness around humans, Tulip will remain in foster.
(All 7 of her babies survived and have found homes!)
Tulip is a couple of years old, spayed, microchipped, up to dates on vaccines, FIV/Felv neg, dewormed, and has been treated for fleas.

Meet Hike! 🐾🥾

This little man may be named Hike, but his journey has been the real adventure! ❤️

Hike came to us as part of a hoarding situation, and at about 4 years old, this terrier mix is still learning all about the big, wide world. It’s clear he didn’t get much socialization in his past, so he can be very shy and unsure at first. But look at him now! 🥹 With a little patience, kindness, and time, Hike blossoms into the sweetest little guy who absolutely loves cuddles and kisses! 💕

He’s even become a leash-walking pro and has discovered that going outside isn’t quite as scary as he once thought! 🥰

Because Hike is still building his confidence, he would do best in a calm, low-traffic home without children where he can continue learning at his own pace. He has lived with other dogs and did well, so he has potential to have a canine sibling pending a proper introduction. 🐶

Hike may need a little extra time to feel comfortable, but once he trusts you, you’ll see what a special little guy he truly is. ❤️

👀👀Is that you??? Are you my new mom or dad?? I've been waiting for a while and came from a crummy situation. This place is a lot nicer than where I used to live, but others have told me stories. They say there are these places called homes where cats are safe, loved, fed and get to play with a family of their own.
I'd like one of those...
I'm Cola and am a couple years old. The APL rescued me and a whole bunch of us from a hoarding case. Despite my history, I am sweet and want love. I can be shy, and may need a little time to warm up, but I assure you, I am worth it.
Like all cats here, I am up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, given flea and worm prevention and more.
We are open T, W 11-4, Fr 11-6, and Sat 11-3 and this Sunday from 12-3 (Aug 30th is a special feline adoption day)!

Hey! Over here! I'm excited!
I'm Beanie baby and there is an adoption event coming up on Sunday, so I really hope I find a home this week / weekend.

The people here are so nice, and they take good care of us but it's not the same as a real home.
