While grouse may get the glory, doodles have our hearts.

On this edition of meet the Guide Dogs of Superior Upland, here’s Miss Junie. June came to us this summer after her owner had some issues come up to where he had to rehome her.

She had suffered a hunting accident the year before causing her to lose an eye.

She’s sweet, goofy, and has shown a real nose for grouse.

When in Rome do as the Grouse do.

In all seriousness Nothing beats the taste of a slightly tart wild apple. This time of year If you find fruit you will find a bird or two willing to partake in the dance of birddog and bird.

They may be harder to hunt and the birds may have more escape routes than apples on the trees but nothing is more rewarding than seeing a group of ruffies explode out into the open.

What a couple beautiful days in the woods with my buddy Pete and his girlfriend Lori.
