Love houseplants but worried about your cat? The good news is there are plenty of beautiful indoor plants that you can still enjoy while keeping your home safe for your cat.

Cats are naturally curious and may nibble on leaves, so choosing non-toxic plants is important for keeping your home both stylish and pet-friendly.

Some popular cat-safe houseplants include:
• Areca Palm
• Spider Plant
• Boston Fern
• Calathea
• Peperomia
• Prayer Plant
• Ponytail Palm
• Chinese Money Plant
• Cast Iron Plant
• African Violet
• Bamboo Palm
• Orchids
• Haworthia
• Hoya (Wax Plant)
• Bird’s Nest Fern

While these plants are considered non-toxic, it’s still best to discourage excessive chewing since any plant material can cause mild stomach upset.

Remember: some common houseplants — including lilies, pothos, philodendrons, dieffenbachia, and sago palms — can be extremely dangerous or even fatal to cats.

Helpful tips for cat owners:
✔️ Place plants on shelves or in harder-to-reach areas
✔️ Offer cat grass or catnip as safe alternatives
✔️ Monitor for damaged leaves or curious chewers
✔️ Research any new plant before bringing it home

Selecting cat-safe houseplants allows you to enjoy a vibrant, green home without putting your pet’s health at risk. Plants like Areca Palm, Spider Plant, Boston Fern, and Calatheas offer beautiful, pet-friendly greenery while helping create a calm indoor environment for both you and your cat.
