This past weekend, we had the chance to see a familiar face at a community event... and it absolutely made our day.

Meet Gucci. 💚

When Gucci came to us, she was critically ill with parvovirus. She spent **7 days** in our ICU fighting for her life while our team worked around the clock to give her every chance at recovery.

This weekend, we got to see her again, not as a patient, but as a happy, healthy dog out enjoying the day with her family.

Moments like these are why we do what we do.

One of the greatest privileges of being part of this community is that our relationships don't always end when our patients leave the hospital. We get to see them at community events, growing up, and living the lives their families hoped for during some of their hardest days.

Seeing Gucci healthy, happy, and completely unaware of how many people were cheering her on from behind the scenes is a reminder of why every overnight shift, every difficult case, and every long day is worth it.

OGVECC continues to grow, and we’re expanding our nursing team to keep pace with the needs of our community.
As our caseload continues to increase, we’re adding team members to ensure we can continue providing the high level of emergency and critical care our patients deserve while maintaining the support our team needs to do their best work.
We’re currently looking for:
🩺 Licensed Veterinary Technicians
• Early Swing (11:00 AM start) – Wednesday–Saturday
• Late Swing (2:00 PM start) – Wednesday–Saturday
• Overnight – Sunday–Wednesday
🐾 Veterinary Assistants
• Early Swing (11:00 AM start) – Wednesday–Saturday
• Late Swing (2:00 PM start) – Wednesday–Saturday
We are a high-volume, fast-paced emergency and critical care hospital, caring for a diverse caseload that includes trauma, critical care, dialysis, transfusions, advanced procedures, and complex medical cases. Every shift brings opportunities to learn, grow, and practice at a high level.
Our ideal candidates have:
• 2–3 years of emergency and critical care experience
• A calm, team-oriented approach under pressure
• A desire to continue learning and advancing their skills
For LVT applicants, we’re looking for technicians who are comfortable managing ASA I–III anesthesia cases and are excited to practice to the full extent of their license.

There are moments that remind you exactly why you do what you do.
This weekend at Tacoma Pride, we were surrounded by kindness, laughter, wagging tails, and so much love. We got to meet incredible people, hand out flower leis and Pride bandanas to some very adorable pups, and reconnect with members of our community who have become part of our hospital’s story.
We got to see Penny. We got to hug the families of Apollo and Kaiya. We met dogs whose lives our team had the privilege of helping save. Those moments never get old.
As I stood there watching the line of happy dogs and smiling faces, I couldn’t help but think back to one random morning when I woke up with what felt like a crazy idea: What if we built a different kind of veterinary hospital? One where people and pets felt truly seen. One where inclusivity wasn’t a slogan, but simply who we are.
Standing at Pride this weekend, that idea didn’t feel crazy anymore. It felt real.
To everyone who stopped by, shared a story, introduced us to your pets, or simply smiled as you walked past—thank you. Thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and allowing us to be part of this incredible community.

🩸❤️ Meet Gunther, AKA “Stick Boi” ❤️🩸
Every blood donor has their thing. Some love treats. Some love belly rubs. Gunther? Well... Gunther loves sticks. 🌳🐾
This handsome boy recently came in for a blood donation, helping save the lives of other pets in need. Over the past year, we’ve gotten to know him pretty well, and one thing is certain: if there’s a stick nearby, Gunther is going to find it.
In fact, knowing how much he loves them, one of our team members went outside before his donation and found the perfect branch to have waiting as a surprise reward afterward. The result? Pure joy. 😍
After his donation, Gunther proudly paraded his prized stick around the exam room before heading home to continue showing off his treasure.
While blood donation is incredibly important, it’s the relationships we build with our donors that make it so special. We learn their favorite treats, their quirks, their fears, and yes, even their stick preferences. We do everything we can to make each donation visit a positive experience because these amazing pets are true heroes.
Thank you, Gunther, for being such a good boy and for helping save lives, one donation (and one stick) at a time. ❤️🐾

☀️ Summer Bummer, Chapito! ☀️

Three-month-old Chapito was all set for beach season in his adorable sun hat... but instead of catching waves, he caught a case of the tummy grumbles.

This little Frenchie came in after a few days of diarrhea, some surprise vomiting (including apple skins 🍎), and deciding breakfast was definitely not on the agenda.

The good news? His Parvo test was negative! After an exam, fluids, anti-nausea medication, and lots of TLC, Chapito headed home to rest and recover while his family keeps a close eye on him.

Our top differential? A puppy-sized appetite for eating things he probably shouldn't.

We're hoping this handsome beach bum is back to chasing summer adventures, and not mystery snacks, very soon! 💚🧡
