Everyone loves a good adoption story, so our team wanted to share this special guy's update with all of you:

"We have a dog (pandemic puppy) who we love and wanted her to have a playmate and companion, but we didn’t want to go to a breeder for another Goldendoodle.

I heard there were so many post pandemic dogs that were being surrendered to shelters. I knew this was the right path to take, I just had to be patient. So I visited shelter sites regularly for 8 months until I found Riptide (now named Frankie). He was just perfect -- a 6-month-old puppy eager to be by kids and curious about other dogs.

The shelter staff was great. Incredibly helpful, a good resource for questions related to the adoption and neutering that had to happen before he came home. All the volunteers were kind and patient with my kids during the meet and greet and let them take as long as they wanted to play with him.

I’ve adopted from local shelters and humane societies before, but the experience with Metro was the best! We will continue to support you." - Caterina

It's tough being a large dog in a shelter. You are friendly with people and other dogs, you love to play fetch and get tummy rubs. You excitedly bark and wag your tail at new visitors to say "Hi! Look at me!"

But visitors walk right past your kennel. No meet & greets.

"Too big"
"Too fluffy"
"Too old"
"Not a fancy breed"
"Not a little dog"
"Not a puppy"

So you wait, and you hope that the right person comes in and takes a chance on you.

We hope that person is you, and that today is that day. We are open at 11 am and would love to show you why each of these dogs would make a great addition to your family.
