We proudly serve the residents of Giles County, as well as the City of Pulaski, Lynnville, Elkton and Minor Hill. Our Animal Control Officers respond to complaints regarding dogs that are running at large and handles neglect and animal cruelty cases for dogs, cats and livestock. It is our mission to inform our community of the state laws and city ordinances in place for vaccinations, tethering/cha

ining, and sheltering needs. Any dog impounded by our shelter can be reclaimed by his rightful owner during a 72 hour hold period. If the dog brought in has any type of identification we will make reasonable effort to contact the owner and the hold period will be 5 business days. Once the hold period is up, all healthy/adoptable dogs will be put up for adoption or sent to a registered 501(c)3 rescue. We are OPEN by APPOINTMENT !

“Mental Health Benefits” 🧠🐶

Dogs do more than provide companionship — they help heal hearts, too.

Studies show dogs can help reduce:
✔ Stress
✔ Anxiety
✔ Loneliness
✔️Lower blood pressure

They encourage routine, comfort, connection, and unconditional love. ❤️

And while you’re helping a foster dog feel safe, they may be helping you more than you realize.

💔 Brad has been with us since October 2025, which at this point feels less like a shelter stay and more like a long-running residency. Sir… it is time to go HOME.

Let’s get into it:

Is he a stout 60lb boy?
👉 Yes. Built like he could help you move furniture but would rather sit on your foot for emotional support.

Does he get along with other dogs?
👉 Yes. No drama. No group chats. Just vibes.

Is he intimidating in his kennel?
👉 Also yes. He looks like he’s about to ask if you have a meeting scheduled.

BUT THEN—

You stop walking…
…and this man gently puts his paw through the gate like,
“Hi excuse me I’m a baby; pick me! 🥺”

Does he pull on the leash?
👉 Oh, 100%. Brad leaves the shelter like he just heard “FREE FOOD OUTSIDE.”
…but give him a minute and he’s like,
“ah yes, a calm stroll, I am refined.”

Does he know his names?
👉 Every single one. Brad. Bradley Cooper. Brad Pitt.
Call him anything and he’s like, “yes that’s me, I’m booked and busy.”

✨ Here’s the deal:
Brad is 75% tough guy, 25% clingy little spoon
…and honestly? That’s a perfect ratio.

He has been overlooked since October, probably because he puts on his “don’t perceive me” face in the kennel…
but the SECOND you give him attention, he turns into your shadow.

Like… personal space? Never heard of her.

🪧 If you’ve been waiting for a sign—this is it!
Come meet Brad. Laugh at Brad. Fall in love with Brad.

🐾 Adopt Brad. He deserves a real home 🐾❤️

Day 25: “Test Run for Adoption” 🐾

🤷‍♀️❓ Not sure if you’re ready to adopt?
Foster first.

🐕 Fostering gives you the opportunity to experience life with a dog before making a lifelong commitment — while also giving a shelter pet a safe, loving place to stay. ❤️

Sometimes fostering helps you discover the perfect fit.
Sometimes it builds confidence.
And sometimes… your foster ends up becoming family. 🐶

🐾 **May 2026 Shelter Stats** 🐾

As we wrap up May, we wanted to share a quick look at what happened at Giles County Animal Shelter this month.

📥 **18 Dogs Entered Our Care**
• 18 Stray Dogs

📤 **40 Dogs Left the Shelter**
• 10 Adoptions 🎉
• 30 Transfers to Rescue Partners ❤️

✅ 0 Euthanasias

For every dog that entered our shelter in May, more than two dogs left for a brighter future. Through adoptions, rescue partnerships, fosters, volunteers, and community support, we continue working to save lives every day.

A special thank you to our rescue partners who helped move 30 dogs into programs where they could continue their journey to loving homes. Rescue partnerships remain one of the most important tools we have to keep lifesaving possible, especially as intake continues to rise.

Thank you to everyone who adopted, fostered, volunteered, donated, shared posts, and supported our dogs this month. Every success story belongs to our entire community. 🐶❤️
