She doesn't even have a name yet, but she already has a deadline.

This sweet 10-year-old girl arrived at MCACC on 6/4 and was immediately given a deadline because she is diabetic. She must be rescued by 6/7 or MCACC will kill her.

✅Apply to save her: DOGFOSTER.ORG
☎️ 602-834-4911

Despite everything, she has been gentle and easy to handle. Shelter staff noted that she walks on a leash, allows petting and handling, has a soft body, and may have limited vision. She was a little unsure when approached in her kennel but remained tolerant and accepted gentle pets.

Medical notes:
• Diabetic with dangerously high blood sugar
• Cataracts in both eyes and possible vision loss
• Slow and stiff when walking
• Old wound on her left hip that needs treatment
• Very callused elbows from spending a lot of time lying on hard surfaces
• Distended abdomen that needs further evaluation

She needs rescue, medical care, and a safe place to land. She is a senior girl who deserves comfort and kindness—not a death sentence the day she arrived.

⚠️ This girl needs out sooner rather than later. Shelter notes indicate she could be killed before her deadline if her condition dec.lines

Her ID is She is 10 yrs. old. 77.5 lbs

🐾 Jane Has Been Adopted! 🐾

Our beloved Great Pyrenees, Jane, has officially been adopted and is now living her dream life on a 41-acre working ranch with her new dad. According to him, she is an absolute hoot. Every night she faithfully patrols and protects her property, taking her job very seriously. Then each morning around 5 a.m., when her dad steps outside, Jane greets him with a mischievous smirk before taking off on her daily adventure—sometimes wandering two or three miles from home.

Occasionally, he has to go retrieve her. When she spots him coming down the dirt road, she plops herself right in the middle of it, waits patiently, then bursts into happy circles before enthusiastically hopping into the car. Jane is truly living her very best life, and we couldn’t be happier for her.

🐾 Arlo Has Found His Forever Home! 🐾

After a successful trial period, Arlo has officially been adopted! Arlo holds a very special place in our hearts, and we wanted to be absolutely certain we had found the perfect forever home for him.

When we visited for a home check yesterday, Arlo never left his new dad’s side. In fact, he spent the entire visit with his head tucked under dad’s hand, soaking up every bit of affection. It was clear to all of us that Arlo knew he was finally home.

🐾 Charlie’s Incredible Journey 🐾

Charlie’s story is unlike any we’ve ever experienced, and honestly, it’s too incredible to squeeze into this post.

What we can tell you is that Charlie is now safely settled into his new-old home with his original owner from seven years ago. Yes, you read that correctly.

His journey is filled with twists, turns, heartbreak, and ultimately a remarkable reunion. The story is so extraordinary that Prescott Dog Magazine will be featuring Charlie and his many lives in a full-length article.

Stay tuned—we promise this is one story you won’t want to miss.

🍌 And Then There’s Bananas Foster… 🍌

Apparently, banana had plans of her own.

After arriving in her new home, foster Renee made it very clear that there was absolutely no way she was letting that sweet little banana slip through her paws. We’re thrilled to share that Banana has officially found her forever home as well!

Her new life is everything we hoped for her—quiet, peaceful, and filled with love. She is absolutely flourishing. In fact, she’s become quite the social butterfly and even accompanies her new mom to Bible study. We love imagining her soaking up all the attention and enjoying every moment of her well-earned retirement.

Seeing Banana so happy is exactly why we do what we do.

❤️ Thank you to everyone who supports our mission and makes these happy endings possible. Every adoption reminds us why we do what we do.

Have a wonderful Friday! We’ll be posting our Photo Friday feature a little later today. 🐾☀️❤️

Meet Iris — The Total Package in a German Shepherd
Iris is one of the most beautiful German Shepherds you'll ever meet.
We rescued Iris from a Northern California shelter where she was on the euthanasia list because of a large mammary mass. Once she arrived at Dogtree Pines, we had her evaluated by a specialist and proceeded with surgery. The best news? The mass was completely benign. Iris has now been medically cleared and is healthy, happy, and ready to find the family she deserves.
At approximately 7 years old, Iris is in excellent health and has many wonderful years ahead of her. She adores people and is incredibly affectionate. Meet her once and she'll likely roll right onto her back, patiently waiting for belly rubs and attention.
Iris gets along with other dogs, but she is a confident, dominant female who naturally wants to be the leader of the pack. In a sanctuary with a large group of dogs, that can create challenges, which is one of the reasons we're searching for a home where she can truly shine.
What makes Iris special isn't just her beauty—it's her intelligence. She is an exceptionally smart girl who craves mental stimulation and engagement. Sanctuary life simply isn't enough for a dog with her sharp mind. Iris would thrive with someone who wants a true companion: a person who will take her on adventures, teach her new things, include her in daily activities, and give her opportunities to use that brilliant Shepherd brain.
Like many of us, Iris has put on a few extra pounds while waiting for her forever home. A more active lifestyle with regular walks, outings, and enrichment will have her feeling her best in no time.
Everyone who meets Iris comments on her stunning appearance, but it's her loving personality, intelligence, and devotion that make her truly unforgettable.
If you're looking for a loyal best friend, an adventure partner, and a dog who will be deeply connected to her people, Iris may be the perfect match.
Contact Dogtree Pines Senior Dog Sanctuary to schedule a meeting with this beautiful girl. We think you'll fall in love.

🚨 Charlie Was Hours Away From Losing Everything Again 🚨

One year after being rescued from the euthanasia list, Charlie found himself back at a veterinary office—this time scheduled to be euthanized.

But one veterinarian trusted her instincts.

Something didn't feel right.

She scanned Charlie's microchip and found Dogtree Pines. One phone call later, Charlie was safe.

The incredible thing? Charlie isn't sick. He's a healthy, active, almost 8-year-old German Shepherd with a wonderful personality and a brilliant mind.

Today he's back with us, making friends, splashing in water, and reminding us why every dog deserves someone willing to ask one more question.

Thank you to the veterinarian who saved Charlie's life simply by caring enough to look deeper.

Welcome home, Charlie. ❤️🐾

I need to catch everyone up on Marlee, our sweet girl with the severe degloving injury we rescued from San Bernardino.

Because her injury was so substantial, my veterinarian recommended a newer treatment option that I had never heard of before: a naturally sourced tilapia skin graft. Of course, I had to research it. Turns out the tilapia is line-caught and sourced from waters near Iceland, and the science behind it is fascinating.

Tilapia skin is being used in both human and veterinary medicine for severe burns, degloving injuries, and other large wounds. It provides a natural moisture barrier, has anti-inflammatory properties, and helps create an environment that promotes healing.

The veterinary team grafted the tilapia skin onto Marlee’s leg much like a traditional skin graft. Within just two days, it had essentially melded with her body and healing was already underway.

Naturally, I’ve started calling her “Frankenfish Foot.” My veterinarian prefers “Dory.” 🤣

The best part is that this treatment means less handling of the wound, fewer bandage changes, less stress on Marlee, and hopefully a much faster recovery with a lower risk of infection.

And Marlee? She’s doing absolutely amazing. Honestly, I don’t think she’s even aware she has a serious injury. She hasn’t missed a beat through this entire process. She’s happy, sweet, and as tough as they come.

I’ve attached some photos. Facebook will likely hide them because they’re medical images, but if you have the stomach for it, take a look at the before-and-after pictures. It’s only been a few weeks, and the progress is incredible.

We’ll continue to share updates as Marlee heals, but for now we’re celebrating this little warrior and the amazing advances in veterinary medicine that are helping her get back on all four paws.

💔 Mickey Thought He Had Been Forgotten 💔

For two months, Mickey waited.

He waited outside the home he once shared with his person. He waited for someone to come back. He waited through the days and nights, faithfully hoping life would return to normal.

But his person never came home.

At 10 years old, Mickey found himself homeless and eventually facing euthanasia. Thankfully, he found his way to Dogtree Pines instead.

Today, Mickey is safe, loved, and learning that his story isn’t over.

He loves gentle affection, quiet companionship, and simply being near his person. No drama. No chaos. Just a sweet senior dog looking for someone to love.

Could you give Mickey the happy ending he deserves?
