Oh my God this poor dog this is absolutely disgusting and I’ve never quite seen anything like it. I’ve seen some pretty bad cases now, but this might be the tops. This dog is so messed up that you call her. She just her skin bleeds. She’s beyond infested with ticks And where there are not my ticks. There are massive sores and scabs. She must be in absolutely miserable condition. I don’t get it very easily, but I have to admit this is taking everything I’ve got to get through. She has tick meds on her now, so hopefully these things will be dying, but I’m not even sure how we’re ever gonna get her groomed with as many sores as she has. They’re literally just everywhere who let a dog or any living thing get in this condition????

This is Meeko. He came from an elderly man that was home with him full-time. He has been here a couple of weeks, but is just not comfortable with the pack. He comes out but then retreats back into the safety of the garage. I believe he was just not super socialized and stayed pretty much in the comfort of his family with their two small. He cries and whines a lot because he is lonely And it’s heartbreaking. Volunteer has spent extra time with him and take him for walks as well, but not enough. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Miko, please let us know. I hate bringing dogs here and watch them being miserable. It just breaks my heart.

These two abandoned seniors are being transported to Dogtree tomorrow. Please help us cover their medical expenses. The husky mix is 16 and the German Shepherd mix is 14 years old and they were literally dropped off to be disposed of like trash. We believe “no dog should die on a cold concrete floor alone”. Welcome Cee Cee and Marnie to the safety and security of Dogtree Pines senior dog sanctuary.

It’s the “BIRDIE CAM”. Looks to me like there’s three little hungry, beaks, and boy. Are these suckers starting to make noise.

Note: I really should let people know that I’m generally doing these posts while I’m walking the dogs in the forest with a cup of coffee in my hand. I’m really not this bad at writing, but Siri and I often have disagreements and she usually wins. I know that if I don’t do it on the go when I have a minute that my post will not happen at all so bear with the horrible English and punctuation, please !

This is Hero and Ralphie,

They are being transported from Llano County in Texas that experienced recent flooding and has been moving dogs and cats out to safety.

RALPHIE is the beautiful 12 y/o Husky. Ralphie is a big boy. He came in underweight and when his owner had passed and would have headed to euthanasia. Ralphie is 83LBS and 36 inches tall.
He has been dog friendly and fortunately has never been overly vocal and generally respects your space. He is relatively active for an elderly guy , has a beautiful coat & loves treats

HERO our incredibly loving 8 y/o deaf boy (a lab and harlequin great dane mix). He loves to sit in your lap or sleep in your bed.
Hero is very Dog and people friendly. We keep him on a monthly ear meds and weekly ear wash. Hero weighs in but doesn't appear that heavy, approx 27 in heigth. All of us at the rescue wish he could have been our mascot (in TX). He can be a little picky about what he eats♡

Both of these boys are on the transport van now heading West. We will be picking them up in Marana on Wednesday and delivering them to temporary foster homes.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Meagan Gipson, Pauline Haas-Vaughn, John Conner & Kari McWest for assisting in pick up and overnight boarding! We couldn't have done it without you.

BOTH these boys will need permanent homes, so please open up your heart and contact us if you have a place for either of these boys. They have been through so much and deserve to have their happily ever afters.

Well, it’s the Friday photo dump on Saturday again. What a week we had!
We started out by having the landscape company here to cut down dozens and dozens of trees. We have so much wood that people have been coming for three days to pick it up and there’s still a huge pile left. 6 acres is amazing until you have to maintain it.
I had knee ablation and I am supposed to “stay off of it for a few days”. Easier said than done but I’m trying. Rosie went for a meet and greet earlier today and so far so good.
The two kids in quarantine, Meeko and Sage, are doing better and are slowly moving in to the pack but still retreat to the garage at night to sleep. We both came down with kennel, cough, and about of pneumonia, but we caught it really early as we know most shelter dogs come in the same condition.
We were alerted about a 12 year-old owner surrender at the Humane Society in Yuma last night and by 3 o’clock today had her here in the Pines. Thank you to our ever loyal, transporters Wendell and Joe and a Penny on the Yuma side for jumping into action and getting her here quickly. She’s a small chocolate lab (Coco) that I believe has a pyometra that will have to be taken care of this week.
We have the two dogs from Texas to arrive on Tuesday and going straight into Foster homes. I will share it more on them later as they will be up for adoption right away.
We sent out a mass email and Facebook post about the BIG EVENT and sold 11 tickets since yesterday so things are moving along great there. Stay tuned for updates on the two dogs being transported out from the flood zone in Texas. I know we’re not hearing much about it, but the small rescues are still really struggling to get animals out to where it’s safe while they dry out and rebuild.
You don’t hear much about the dogs that we pull and put immediately into Foster, but we have great news, two of the dogs that we had in our foster program were adopted this week by their fosters. We had a 10 year-old Siberian husky (Opie) in Southern California and a seven-year-old German Shepherd (River) in the valley that both stayed at their forever homes. They were both facing euthanasia.
We have so many logs in the fire that it takes an amazing team to keep this place running and we appreciate everyone that is involved every single day. No kidding, it really does take a village. That’s not just a pun.
Facebook doesn’t let you post videos along with photos so check in the comment section for a few fun videos as well from the week.
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
