“But I play with him all the time—why is he still so hyper?!”

Here’s the thing: more activity isn’t always the answer. In fact, constantly trying to wear your dog out with play, walks, and stimulation can actually backfire.

🐕‍🦺 All that exercise? You’re building an athlete.
Your dog isn’t getting tired—they’re getting in better shape. Now it takes even more to reach the same level of exhaustion, and you’re stuck in a cycle of trying to outwork your dog’s energy.

So what’s missing?

🎯 Direction.
Your dog doesn’t just need to burn energy—they need to learn how to use it. That means training the brain as much as the body, channeling that drive into focus, impulse control, and calmness.

And here’s the part that’s often overlooked:

🛑 They also need to learn how to stop.
We have to teach our dogs how to settle, relax, and be still. Calm is a skill—not a default setting. If we don’t show them how, they won’t just figure it out on their own.

So if your dog seems “impossible to tire out,” maybe it’s time to stop chasing exhaustion—and start teaching balance.
