PetConnect fosters animals from these high kill shelters until they can be placed with a permanent family. All of our animals are spayed and neutered at an appropriate age and receive full medical care. The placement process is a critical component of our mission as the personalities of both the animals and the adopters are carefully considered. At PetConnect Rescue, we believe that every animal can become a treasured family pet.

Gorgeous CJ is discovering something pretty wonderful: being someone’s dog. ❤️

Before rescue, this sweet little hound spent his life as an outside hunting dog. He’d never known cozy beds, living rooms, family routines, or what it felt like to truly belong.

Now? He’s making up for lost time.

CJ loves other dogs, greets new people like old friends, and approaches life with the kind of joy that’s impossible not to smile at. He’s playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure—especially if that adventure involves following an interesting scent. (He’s a hound, after all.)

At 32 pounds, he’s the perfect size for hiking trails, neighborhood walks, weekend outings, and curling up next to you afterward for a well-earned nap.

CJ is still learning the ins and outs of indoor life, but he’s making great progress every day. What he needs now is a family willing to keep showing him what love, patience, and belonging look like…and he’ll show you how much gratitude can fit inside one very sweet little hound.

Rescue work is a lot of things.

It’s answering the call when a shelter is out of space. It’s welcoming a scared dog or cat into a foster home and hoping they’ll understand they’re safe now. It’s celebrating adoptions, saying goodbye when they’re ready, and then somehow finding room in your heart to do it all over again.

There are days when the need feels endless, but there are also tons of moments like this. Moments that remind us what foster homes make possible. Moments that exist only because someone opened their door, made a little room on the couch, and said yes.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, “To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, that is to have succeeded.”

We think about that often. Because maybe success looks like a dog learning how to play again. Or a cat discovering that laps are pretty wonderful after all. Maybe it looks like a foster family helping an animal find their way home.

Every dog and cat who comes through PetConnect has a story. Thanks to our fosters, that story doesn’t end where it could have. It becomes something better.

And that’s a beautiful, wonderful, successful thing to be part of. ❤️
