✨💕Here are some ways that you can support your community when you are out with your dog - because caring is cool! ✨💕
🩷 Be present and be safe: Silence your earbuds and phone when you are with your dog in busier spaces.
🩷 Give space: If your dog likes to stare at other dogs, try redirecting their focus back to you or on to the ground with a treat.
🩷 Read the room: If you notice another dog having a hard time (barking, lunging, pulling really hard, etc), give them space instead of continuing to walk towards them with your dog.
🩷 When in doubt: Cross the street or use someone’s driveway to create space.
🩷 Be sensitive: Avoid bringing your dog places that exceed their comfort or skill level. It’s okay to leave your dog at home, or choose somewhere easier to bring them.
🩷 Respect your community: If you let your dog off leash outside of designated areas, don’t let them run up to people or leashed dogs. Instead, call them to you or leash them up.
🩷 Do your part: Pick up your dog’s p**p and dispose of it in a trash can.
🩷 Don’t assume: People without a dog may not want to interact with your dog. Many people are scared of dogs, allergic, or just don’t want to say hello.
🩷 Whenever possible: Communicate your needs, and listen when other people communicate theirs.
✨💕Is there anything you would add? Have any questions?
Share the ways that you show up for your neighbors, and your community, when you are out with your dog! 💕✨ Lots of love, Christina & Kira
