NO KILL RESCUE
KAR animals are kept in our care from intake until adoption. For the majority of our animals that time is spent within one home, where the animal can get accustomed to family life. HOUSING
The majority of KAR animals are placed with foster families. These families are KAR volunteers who generously open their homes to animals in need. The animals are provided with a caring, nurturing

atmosphere to facilitate their well-being. While in foster care, we gain an understanding of the animal's needs and their personality traits. Foster homes work with Adoption Counselors to match the animals with suitable permanent families. WEBSITE

A HUGE THANK YOU to the employees from Texas Roadhouse - Portage who came out for a volunteer day today and helped us with the first step of our landscape project! They worked hard hauling old bushes, digging out some grass and weeds in the front garden area, and helping us get it all leveled for what comes next! Stay tuned in the coming weeks for what we have planned for our shelter landscaping!

Our shelter will be CLOSED Wednesday 6/24. We’ll return to our normal shelter hours on Friday.

We know hot summer temps result in extra water consumption, but our can/bottle volunteers wanted to remind everyone that water bottles and any Non-carbonated/Non-sparkling drinks are not eligible for MI 10cent returns.

We appreciate your can/bottle donations so much! We will recycle all of this that was received yesterday by filling some recycle bins at a volunteer’s home, but please know that the rescue does not have a way to recycle all this.
