The Kalamazoo Reptile and Exotic Animal Expo is Saturday May 20 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center and Fairgrounds, 2900 Lake St., Kalamazoo MI 49048. of reptiles and small exotic mammals available. We have wide aisles and an open floor plan so that you can browse at your leisure. There will be a wide variety of animals to see and buy, including ,
Tortoises, monitors Pac

man frogs,Colorado river toads,Hedge hogs, sugar gliders, short tail opossums,hairless guinea pigs, bearded dragons, chameleons and alot of really cool ball python morphs, tarantulas , burmese and reticulated pythons,axolotls, frogs, milksnakes, kingsnakes, birds, leopard geckos crested geckos, and much much more. There will also be new and used tanks and enclosures as well as pet supply's including heat, light, filters, substrate and more! We will also have live crickets, mealworms, silkworms, hornworms, superworms, live and frozen rodents, and other supplies for your exotic pet needs. Admission is $5 children under 6 Free. In the rainforests of Peru, there’s a spider with an extraordinary survival strategy it builds fake versions of itself right in its own web.

Using whatever’s handy bits of leaves, scraps of dead insects, and plenty of silk this clever spider carefully crafts a decoy that mimics its shape and even its pose. The result? An uncanny lookalike that’s good enough to fool would-be predators into thinking they’re looking at the real deal.

This ingenious trick gives the Peruvian spider a critical edge. Instead of risking an attack, it lets its decoy take the heat, distracting birds and other hunters and buying the real spider valuable time to stay hidden or escape.

Scientists have marveled at just how detailed these spider “statues” can be, with some so convincing they’ve even tricked researchers at first glance.

It’s a powerful example of animal intelligence and adaptation proof that in the wild, sometimes creativity is the best defense.
