Mission Statement: CCHS is organized to ensure the protection, sheltering and welfare of all animals in and around Columbia County through a cooperative effort with our citizens. The Columbia County Humane Society was incorporated in 1925 in response to growing community need to care for unwanted and abandoned animals. Twenty years later, a new shelter was built at Highway 16 West and Industrial

Road. CCHS Mission Statement

CCHS is organized to ensure the protection, sheltering and welfare of all animals in and around Columbia County through a cooperative effort with our citizens. Each year, the Humane Society provides care and shelter to approximately 1300 animals. A number of these animals are strays brought in by local officials, transfers from other shelter or rescues or animals who are surrendered to CCHS by their owners. Over the years, we have saved the lives of countless animals through immediate care and treatment, and ultimately adoption. Because of the Society, otherwise unwanted animals have found happy, loving homes. The new shelter opened in 1998 to accommodate the increasing number of animals needing care and to provide increased services to the community, allowing the Society to continue its humanitarian work well into the 21st century.

Totally happiness with Kora on her first time outside at CCHS. She is such a sweet girl!

Gus is still looking for a home! If you have a frisbee, some space, and a little time Gus is waiting for you!

This is Gus! Unfortunately, his best friend passed away and he is looking for a permanent and suitable home to go to. He is currently staying with a friend of the prior owner. Gus is 7 years old, neutered, and up to date with his rabies vaccination. He is very loyal and easy going. He is not recommended to live with young children, and has to be an only pet. No cats or other dogs. If you have any further questions, please call G*e at 608-444-9842.

Disclaimer: CCHS is not guaranteeing health, temperament or any information about the animals posted in the folder. We are just utilizing our audience to promote pets who need homes in the community. We ask that interested parties do their homework on the pets to make sure they are a good match.

Tilly is an adorable almost‑3‑month‑old kitten who has already shown just how brave and resilient she is. She came to us with an injury that required an amputation, and thanks to a loving foster home, she healed beautifully. Now she’s back, healthy, happy, and ready to find a family of her very own. Tilly is incredibly social, cuddly, and affectionate. She loves attention, adores playtime, and purrs the moment you look her way. Her sweet nature and constant enthusiasm make her the kind of kitten who brightens every room she enters. Being a tripod doesn’t slow her down one bit — she plays, explores, and loves just like any other kitten. What she really wants now is a home where she can continue to grow, be adored, and share her endless purrs. Tilly is ready to bring joy, snuggles, and her brave little spirit into a family who will cherish her. Apply to meet her at www.cchswi.org

Luco-Mountain Cur-male-4 1/2 months-40 pounds. Meet Luco! Luco came to us from a farm alongside his sister, Bente, in search of a family to call his own. His stunning fawn brindle coat turns heads immediately, but it’s his bright, happy personality that really shines. Luco is a bit more energetic than his sister—playful, curious, and always ready for a little adventure or attention. He loves people and has that joyful, tail‑wagging enthusiasm that makes him a fun companion. Growing up on the farm, Luco lived comfortably around horses, other dogs, cats, and children, so he’s well‑socialized and adaptable. He’s affectionate, friendly, and eager to bond with his humans. Mountain Curs are not a breed most people know about, so we encourage adopters to research the Mountain Cur breed to understand their needs. Luco is ready to bring his sweetness, spirit, and big heart into a home of his own. Apply to meet him at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Bente-Mountain Cur-female-4 1/2 months-33 pounds. Bente is a truly lovely girl who came to us from a farm in search of a home of her own. Her striking brindle coat catches your eye right away, but it’s her gentle, affectionate personality that makes you fall in love. Bente is as sweet as they come and loves being close to people. Growing up on the farm, she lived around horses, other dogs, cats, and children, making her a great fit for a variety of homes. She’s social, steady, and has that soft, easygoing nature that makes her a joy to be around. Because Bente is a Mountain Cur, which is not a widely known breed, we encourage interested adopters to research the Mountain Cur breed to understand their needs. Bente is ready to bring her sweetness into a family who will love her just as much as she’ll love them. Apply to meet her at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

🐾 Hi Supporters! They’ve arrived!
Please help us welcome our two new Ridglan Beagles, Kora and Mimi!

Both girls are settling in beautifully and enjoyed their very first meals at CCHS — canned food and kibble were an immediate hit. Kora is already showing us how much she loves treats, while Mimi carefully picked up a single kibble, set it on her blanket, stared at it for a moment… and then happily gobbled it up. Their personalities are already shining through.

When they first arrived, both were understandably nervous. Mimi, however, wasted no time getting into things with curiosity and a touch of mischief — it was adorable to watch. Kora was initially frozen and taking everything in, but she quickly decided we were safe and welcomed gentle attention.

Now, they’re approaching us in their kennels with tail wags, and we’ve discovered they absolutely love chin scratches. They come right up when we stop to say hello.

We’re so grateful to be able to help these two begin their next chapter. 💙Thank you all for your support — it’s because of you that we’re able to continue this work and be here for dogs like Kora and Mimi. Your kindness truly makes a difference. Stay tuned for more updates as they continue to settle in.
