Alice ( ) has been waiting… and waiting… and still holding onto hope. 💔

At 7 years old, this beautiful Pitbull Terrier mix has seen so many others find their families while she patiently waits for her turn.

Alice may take a little time to open up, but once she does, it’s something truly special. With patience and kindness, she blossoms into the sweetest, silliest, most affectionate girl. She loves deeply, snuggles wholeheartedly, and cherishes every moment of connection. 🐾

💗 JESSIE HAS WAITED LONG ENOUGH.

Jessie ( ) has spent far too much of her life waiting for someone to choose her. Rescued from Georgia as a puppy, she found a home but just three months later, she was returned because her family felt her puppy energy was “too much.”

Now, after growing up in our adoption center, Jessie is struggling. She’s declining in the shelter environment, and we know she needs out. She needs someone to step up for her and she needs it now.

Jessie may be shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and a few treats, her sweet personality comes shining through. She’s loving, affectionate, cuddly, and full of kisses once she feels safe. ❤️ She does well with other dogs, too, though a meet-and-greet would be required to make sure it’s the right fit.

🐾 Jessie would do best with:
• Experienced dog owners
• A quiet suburban or rural home
• Older children (14+)
• Someone patient who will give her time to decompress and build confidence

Can’t adopt? Fostering Jessie could be just as life-changing. Getting her out of the shelter and into a calm home could give her the fresh start she desperately needs.

They say the bigger the dog, the more there is to love... and that couldn't be more true when it comes to 3-year-old Lightning ( ). ❤️⚡

This handsome Mastiff is a gentle giant who loves treats, back scratches, and simply spending time with his favorite people. Lightning came to our Port Washington, NY Adoption Center through no fault of his own after his owner could no longer care for him.

Of course, that's a sad situation. But one thing is certain: Lightning was loved. And now, he's hoping someone will give him the chance to be loved again.

🐾 POP JUST WANTED A DAY OFF... AND SHE LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. 🥹💕

Meet Pop ( ), a sweet 3-year-old who has spent far too much of her young life waiting for her person. Recently, Pop got to trade her kennel for something a whole lot cozier: a few hours at the home of one of our incredible volunteers, Ashley, through Adventure Club. 🏡💗

And guys... POP. WAS. LIVING. 😂

She stretched out on the couch. She claimed the bed. She relaxed outside of the shelter. She soaked up the quiet, the comfort, and all the little things that make a house feel like home. And judging by these photos, she had absolutely no plans of giving any of it up. 🥹

Moments like this are so important for Pop. Away from the shelter, we get to see more of the goofy, affectionate, playful girl underneath it all. She LOVES being near her people and clearly knows how to appreciate the finer things in life. 😉

Pop is house-trained, knows her basic commands, and has a heart full of love to give. She’s looking for an experienced adopter and a home with older children and no other pets who can give her the patience, structure, and stability she needs to continue thriving.

She’s been waiting long enough. Pop doesn’t need another Adventure Club outing. She needs a couch, a bed, and a family of her very own. 🥹❤️

🎾🐾 At 11 years old, Beau still has PLENTY of life left in him - just look at him play! ❤️

This silver-faced Labrador mix may be a senior, but someone forgot to tell Beau! Give him a toy and he’s ready to have some fun. 🥹 He’s proof that being 11 doesn’t mean you stop playing, exploring, enjoying treats, or having SO much love to give.

And that’s what makes it so heartbreaking that Beau is now waiting for a home.

After spending nearly his entire life with one family, Beau found himself back at our Adoption Center when his family moved and couldn’t take him with them. Through no fault of his own, the only home he had ever known was suddenly gone.

Now he’s navigating the sights, sounds and stress of shelter life when what he really deserves is a quiet place to land and someone to love him through his golden years. 🥺

Beau is housebroken, knows his basic cues, loves treats, and clearly still LOVES to play. He’s looking for an adults-only home where he can be your one and only pet... ideally with a family who understands that he doesn’t need to be anything other than exactly who he is.

Because Beau isn’t “just an old dog.”
He’s a playful, sweet, loving boy with so much life still ahead of him. ❤️

Eleven years into his story, Beau has lost the home he knew. Please help us make sure he doesn’t lose hope, too.

❤️🐱 A LOVE STORY YEARS IN THE MAKING. 🐱❤️

Over the last year, we’ve had the privilege of watching something truly special unfold between 4-year-old Arik and 5-year-old Resilience - two survivors who found something they both needed in each other. 🥹

Arik is a mild-mannered, FIV+ gentleman who has always found comfort in his feline friends. But as one roommate after another found their forever homes, Arik was left without the steady companion he relied on.

Then came Resilience.

Resilience was one of the most fearful cats from their rescue, hesitant around people and even unsure around other cats. But when she moved into Arik’s room, something magical happened. ✨

She stopped avoiding feline affection. She began dipping her head to greet Arik and weaving tails with him as they explored the room together. And while she’s still learning to trust people, she’s following Arik’s lead—watching him grow more confident and discovering that maybe the world isn’t so scary after all. ❤️

Their bond has been beautiful to watch, but we don’t want this love story to end here.

We’re looking for a quiet, patient, experienced family with older children who will welcome these two into the happily-ever-after they deserve. 🏡🐾
